The engine of claim 13, wherein the relation is modified upon exceeding a time threshold. 19. The engine of claim 13, wherein the relation is modified upon exceeding an engine temperature threshold or if the difference exceeds a threshold. 20. A method of controlling boost of a turbocharged internal combustion engine having a wastegate valve, comprising: via a controller including a non-transitory computer-readable medium, and based on sensors sensing an engine temperature, an actuator position, and boost identifying a relation between an actuator position and a lift of a wastegate valve at engine start-up in an engine temperature range; andafter start-up, via the controller, modifying the relation between the position of the actuator and the lift of the wastegate valve based on a difference between a desired boost level and an actual boost level; wherein the relation yields a decreased lift of the wastegate valve for a given actuator position at an upper end of the engine temperature range and yields an increased lift of the wastegate valve for a given actuator position at a lower end of the engine temperature range.
