The reservoir contains a volatile medium and is adapted to engage with the cradle. The volatile medium is in fluid communication with the wicking extension. The delivery device can include a wide variety of articles, including decorative articles, functional articles, and substance-containing articles such as fragrance diffusers, which benefit from their union with the porous emanator.

The delivery device of claim 2, further comprising a lid positioned atop the substance-containing article to seal a substance within the substance-containing article. 8. The delivery device of claim 2, wherein the substance-containing article contains bath salts. 9. The delivery device of claim 1, wherein the volatile medium comprises at least one of a fragrance, an essential oil, a medicant, an insect control agent, and a malodor counteractant. 10. The delivery device of claim 1, wherein the cradle comprises a reservoir-engaging portion having the wicking extension and engages the reservoir, an article-engaging portion that engages the article, and an exposed emanating surface. 11. The delivery device of claim 10, wherein the cradle further comprises a recessed groove disposed between the emanating surface and the at least one wicking extension, wherein the recessed groove engages and rests on an upper lip of the reservoir. 12. The delivery device of claim 1, further comprising a reservoir cartridge. 13. The delivery device of claim 1, wherein the reservoir comprises a piercing lance. 14. A delivery device comprising: a vessel comprising a vessel sidewall and a vessel base having a continuous surface, wherein the vessel sidewall includes at least one wicking extension protruding downward from the vessel base; anda reservoir engageable with the vessel and having a reservoir base, wherein the reservoir base includes an elevated interior center forming a domed convex surface and wherein volatile medium contained in the reservoir is in fluid communication with the at least one wicking extension. 15. The delivery device of claim 14, wherein the vessel comprises a hollow vessel. 16. The delivery device of claim 14, wherein the vessel contains at least one of a candle, a gel composition, polymeric beads, and a reed diffuser. 17. The delivery device of claim 14, wherein the vessel comprises at least one of a porous material or a liquid impervious material. 18. The delivery device of claim 14, where the vessel comprises an absorbent sheathing. 19. The delivery device of claim 14, wherein the reservoir comprises a piercing lance. 20. The delivery device of claim 14, wherein the reservoir base comprises a channel formed along an outer periphery of the reservoir base, wherein a bottom of the at least one wicking extension is disposed in the channel. 21. The delivery device of claim 14, wherein the vessel is positionable over the reservoir, and wherein the vessel and the reservoir are at least substantially co-centric. 22. The delivery device of claim 14, wherein the vessel sidewall and the reservoir sidewall comprise a substantially continuous surface. 23. The delivery device of claim 1, wherein a base of the reservoir includes an elevated interior center forming a domed convex surface and includes a channel running along an outside periphery of the base, wherein a bottom of the wicking extension is disposed in the channel. 24. The delivery device of claim 14, wherein the vessel further comprises a recessed groove disposed between an emanating surface of the vessel and the at least one wicking extension, wherein the recessed groove engages and rests on an upper lip of the reservoir.
