1. An appliance for topographical application to skin, the appliance comprising: a continuous elastic material contoured for application to an affected area, the elastic material comprising: a central intersection portion adapted to be secured to the skin over an injured area;a first portion and a second portion attached to the central intersection portion to reinforce the intersection portion, the first portion and the second portion adapted to be secured to the affected area adjacent to the injured area to secure the central intersection portion to the skin over the injured area; andan adhesive material being applied to all of one side of the elastic material;wherein the adhesive material is adapted to secure the entire one side of the elastic material of the appliance to the skin;wherein no portion of the central intersection portion, the first portion or the second portion overlaps any other portion while the appliance is secured to the skin; andwherein each of the portions of the appliance is adapted to provide lift to surface anatomy beneath the skin, the intersection portion providing the strongest lift because of the reinforcement provided by the first and second portions to the intersection portion;wherein the appliance comprises a material adapted to retain heat or cold for additional rehabilitive effects. 2. The appliance of claim 1 wherein the elastic material further comprises a third portion attached to the central intersection portion, the third portion adapted to be secured to the affected area adjacent to the injured area to secure the central intersection portion to the skin over the injured area. 3. The appliance of claim 2 wherein the elastic material further comprises a fourth portion attached to the central intersection portion, the fourth portion adapted to be secured to the affected area adjacent to the injured area to secure the central intersection portion to the skin over the injured area. 4. The appliance of claim 1 wherein the appliance is adhered such that each portion is adapted to impart tension on the skin. 5. The appliance of claim 1 wherein the elastic material is adapted to include electrodes. 6. An appliance for topographical application to an injured area, the appliance adapted to provide a proprioreceptive and rehabilitative effect to the injured area, to relieve pain, to reduce inflammation, and to provide support and stability to the injured knee, the appliance comprising: a continuous elastic material contoured for application to the injured area, the elastic material comprising: an intersection portion adapted to be secured to the skin generally over the patellar tendon;a first portion attached to the intersection portion, the first portion being adapted to be secured between generally the head of the fibia and the intersection portion along the medial aspect of the knee, the first portion approximates the gracillis tendon;a second portion attached to the intersection portion, the second portion being adapted to be secured opposite the first portion relative to the intersection portion, the second portion approximating the lateral edge of the vastus medialis muscle;a third portion attached to the intersection portion, the third portion being adapted to be secured generally along the lateral aspect of the knee and along the illiotibial tract;a fourth portion attached to the intersection portion, the fourth portion being adapted to be secured across the grain of the vastas medialis muscle; andan adhesive material being applied to all of one side of the elastic material, wherein the adhesive material is adapted to secure the entire one side of the appliance to the skin; andwherein the first, second, third, and fourth portions reinforce the intersection portion and are adapted to secure the central intersection portion to the skin over the patellar tendon;wherein none of the portions of the appliance overlaps any other portion while the appliance is secured to the skin;wherein each of the portions of the appliance is adapted to provide lift to surface anatomy beneath the skin, the intersection portion over the patellar tendon providing the strongest lift because of the reinforcement provided by the first, second, third, and fourth portions to the intersection portion;wherein the appliance comprises a material adapted to retain heat or cold for additional rehabilitive effects. 7. The appliance of claim 6 wherein the appliance further comprises at least one topically administered medication to reduce pain or inflammation. 8. An appliance for topographical application to an injured area, the appliance adapted to provide a proprioreceptive and rehabilitative effect to the injured area, to relieve pain, to reduce inflammation, and to provide support and stability to the area, the appliance comprising: a continuous elastic material contoured for application to the injured area, the elastic material comprising: an intersection portion being adapted to be secured to the skin generally over the greater trochanter of the femur;a first portion attached to the intersection portion, the first portion being adapted to be secured generally along the posterior aspect of the illiotibial tract;a second portion attached to the intersection portion, the second portion being adapted to be secured generally along the anterior aspect of the illiotibial tract; andan adhesive material being applied to all of one side of the elastic material, wherein the adhesive material is adapted to secure the entire one side of the appliance to the skin; andwherein no portion of the intersection portion, the first portion, or the second portion overlaps any other portion while the appliance is secured to the skin;wherein the first and second portions reinforce the intersection portion and are adapted to secure the central intersection portion to the skin over the greater trochanter of the femur;wherein each of the portions of the appliance is adapted to provide lift to surface anatomy beneath the skin over the each of the skin, the intersection portion over the greater trochanter of the femur providing the strongest lift because of the reinforcement provided by the first and second portions to the intersection portion;wherein the appliance comprises a material adapted to retain heat or cold for additional rehabilitive effects. 9. The appliance of claim 8 wherein the appliance further comprises at least one topically administered medication to reduce pain or inflammation.
