A trigger mechanism for a fastening tool having a spring curl trip actuator. The spring curl trip actuator can be made of a flexible material and can be configured to exert a force upon a trigger switch. The spring curl trip actuator can also absorb force from a contact trip. The spring curl trip actuator can have compact height and length dimensions. The fastening tool can use a method for controlling triggering by using a spring curl trip actuator.

1. A method for controlling a switching of a trigger switch of a fastening device, comprising the steps of: providing a fastening device having a trigger switch;providing a contact trip mechanism;providing a spring curl trip actuator having an actuator spring curl;applying an activating force to at least a portion of the spring curl trip actuator from the contract trip mechanism;moving at least a portion of the spring curl trip actuator mechanism to impart a force in a range of from 1 N to 40 N to the trigger switch; andswitching the trigger switch. 2. A fastening device, comprising: a trigger mechanism for triggering the fastener device to drive a fastener into a workpiece;the trigger mechanism having a spring curl trip actuator and a trigger switch;wherein the spring curl trip actuator comprises an actuator spring curl;wherein the actuator spring curl has a portion which is configured to curl radially about at least a portion of an actuator hub; andwherein the spring curl trip actuator is configured to switch the trigger switch when at least a portion of the spring curl trip actuator receives an activating force. 3. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator comprises a flexible material having a flexural modulus of 250,000 psi or greater. 4. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator comprises a flexible material having a flexural strength of 10,000 psi or greater. 5. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator comprises a flexible material having a specific gravity in a range of from 1.1 to 3.0. 6. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator exerts a force of 0.5 Kgf or less upon the trigger switch when the activating force is received. 7. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator exerts a force of 0.22 Kgf or less upon the trigger switch when the activating force is received. 8. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator has a contact leg which is adapted for receiving an activating force. 9. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator has a contact leg which is adapted for receiving an activating force which is exerted by an activation rod. 10. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator has an actuator switch contact leg which is adapted to switch the trigger switch. 11. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator has an actuator switch contact leg which has a portion which is a distance of 3 mm or less from at least a portion of the trigger switch. 12. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator has an actuator switch contact leg which has a portion which is connected to at least a portion of the trigger switch. 13. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the trigger switch is a contact trigger. 14. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator when activated applies a force in a range of from 1 N to 40 N to the trigger switch. 15. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator experiences a displacement in a range of from 0.5 mm to 4 mm of at least a portion of an actuator switch contact leg when the spring curl trip actuator receives an activating force. 16. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator has an actuator height of 48 mm or less and an actuator length of 64 mm or less. 17. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the fastening device is a nailer. 18. The fastening device according to claim 2, wherein the spring curl trip actuator comprises a flexible material having a specific gravity in a range of from 1.1 to 1.75. 19. A fastening device having a means of absorbing force from a contact trip mechanism, comprising: a means for absorbing force imparted by a contact trip, the means for absorbing force being configured between the contact trip and a trigger switch,the means for absorbing force adapted to absorb an amount of force from the contact trip such that the force transferred to the trigger switch has a value of a range of from 1 N to 40 N. 20. The fastening device according to claim 19, wherein the trigger switch is a contact trigger. 21. The fastening device according to claim 19, wherein the fastening device is a nailer. 22. A fastening device, comprising: a trigger mechanism for triggering the fastener device to drive a fastener into a workpiece;the trigger mechanism having a spring curl trip actuator and a trigger switch;wherein the spring curl trip actuator comprises a flexible material having a specific gravity in a range of from 1.1 to 3.0; andthe spring curl trip actuator configured to switch the trigger switch when at least a portion of the spring curl trip actuator receives an activating force. 23. The fastening device according to claim 22, wherein the spring curl trip actuator comprises a flexible material having a specific gravity in a range of from 1.1 to 1.75. 24. The fastening device according to claim 22, wherein the spring curl trip actuator has an actuator spring curl which has a portion which is configured to curl radially about at least a portion of an actuator hub. 25. The fastening device according to claim 22, wherein the spring curl trip actuator has a contact leg which is adapted for receiving an activating force. 26. The fastening device according to claim 22, wherein the fastening device is a nailer.
