1. A storage system for covering a pile of bulk material, the system comprising: a storage area surface having a storage perimeter defined at a ground surface within which the pile of bulk material is stored substantially on or proximate to the ground surface;a retaining wall extending along the storage perimeter, the retaining wall having a lower edge positioned at the storage perimeter and an upper edge opposite the lower edge;a board securable to at least a portion of the upper edge of the retaining wall, the secured board and at least a portion of the upper edge of the retaining wall having a space therebetween, the space defining an opening;a tarpaulin including: at least one perimeter edge defining at least a portion of a tarpaulin perimeter, a portion of the at least one perimeter edge insertable within or through the opening and positionable over the upper edge of the retaining wall, andat least one tunnel integrally bonded to the tarpaulin; and a strap provided within the tunnel, at least one end of the strap extendable beyond the at least a portion of a tarpaulin perimeter and beyond the board over the upper edge of the retaining wall. 2. The storage system of claim 1, wherein the retaining wall is angled away from the storage area surface. 3. The storage system of claim 2, further comprising a brace situated adjacent to an outer surface of the retaining wall, the outer surface on an opposite side of the retaining wall as the storage area surface. 4. The storage system of claim 3, further comprising a tightening mechanism attached to the brace and connected to the at least one end of the strap. 5. The storage system of claim 4, wherein the tightening mechanism is a winch. 6. The storage system of claim 1, wherein the retaining wall is substantially planar. 7. The storage system of claim 1, wherein a distance from the upper edge of the retaining wall to the lower edge of the retaining wall is at least 6 feet. 8. The storage system of claim 1, further comprising a tightening mechanism connected to the at least one end of the strap. 9. The storage system of claim 8, wherein the tightening mechanism comprises a winch. 10. The storage system of claim 8, wherein the at least one end of the strap is extendable over the board and the tightening mechanism increases tension on the strap thereby pressing the secured board against the upper edge of the retaining wall. 11. The storage system of claim 1, wherein the strap is freely movable through the tunnel. 12. A storage system for covering a pile of bulk material, the system comprising: a storage area surface having a storage perimeter defined at a ground surface within which the pile of bulk material is stored substantially on or proximate to the ground surface;a retaining wall extending along the storage perimeter, the retaining wall having a lower edge positioned at the storage perimeter and an upper edge opposite the lower edge;a board securable to at least a portion of the upper edge of the retaining wall, the secured board and the at least a portion of the upper edge of the retaining wall having a space therebetween, the space defining an opening;a plurality of tarpaulins, each tarpaulin including: at least one adjacent edge, the plurality of tarpaulins joinable together at adjacent edges,at least one perimeter edge, each of the perimeter edges collectively defining a tarpaulin perimeter, a portion of each tarpaulin at or proximate to each perimeter edge positionable over the upper edge of the retaining wall, at least one of the perimeter edges insertable within or through the opening,a plurality of tunnels, each tarpaulin including at least one tunnel integrally bonded to the tarpaulin; and a plurality of straps, each strap provided within one of the tunnels, at least one end of each strap extendable beyond the tarpaulin perimeter over the upper edge of the retaining wall, and at least one end of one strap extendable beyond the board as it is secured to the upper edge of the retaining wall. 13. The storage system of claim 12, wherein each strap is freely movable through a tunnel. 14. The storage system of claim 12, wherein the retaining wall is angled away from the storage area surface. 15. The storage system of claim 14, further comprising a brace situated adjacent to an outer surface of the retaining wall, the outer surface on an opposite side of the retaining wall as the storage area surface. 16. The storage system of claim 15, further comprising a tightening mechanism attached to the brace and connected to the at least one end of one of the plurality of straps. 17. The storage system of claim 12, further comprising a plurality of tightening mechanisms and each of the at least one end of the strap is connected to one of the plurality of tightening mechanisms. 18. The storage system of claim 17, wherein each of the at least one end of the strap is extendable over the board and the plurality of tightening mechanism increases tension on the plurality of straps thereby pressing the secured board against the upper edge of the retaining wall.
