Modular floor tiles and modular floors are described herein. A modular floor tile may include a top surface layer, a plurality of edge surfaces, an interlocking mechanism for attachment to adjacent tiles, and a support system. The support system may additionally include a first rigid level and at least one resilient support member disposed under the top surface layer, the at least one resilient support member extending to a distance further from the top surface layer than the first rigid level. The at least one resilient support member may be compressible toward the top surface layer. A modular floor may include a plurality of interlocking tiles connected to one another. A method of forming a modular floor that includes an interlocking modular tile is also disclosed.

1. A floor tile assembly, comprising: a floor tile, comprising: a top surface layer having upward and downward facing surfaces;a plurality of rigid supports extending downward from the downward facing surface and defining a bottom surface of the floor tile;a plurality of compressible support members releasably mounted to the floor tile and positioned abutting against the downward facing surface;wherein when uncompressed, the plurality of compressible support members extend downward beyond the bottom surface of the floor tile, and when compressed, the plurality of compressible support members extend to the bottom surface of the floor tile. 2. The floor tile system of claim 1, wherein the plurality of rigid supports have a length that is less than an uncompressed length of the plurality of compressible support members. 3. The floor tile system of claim 1, wherein the top surface layer and the plurality of rigid supports are molded as a single piece. 4. The floor tile system of claim 1, wherein the plurality of compressible support members are mounted to the plurality of rigid supports with an interference fit. 5. The floor tile system of claim 1, wherein the plurality of resilient support members each include a plurality of resilient portions having different properties. 6. The floor tile system of claim 1, wherein the plurality of resilient support members bear against the plurality of rigid supports. 7. The floor tile system of claim 1, wherein at least some of the plurality of resilient support members have a variable cross-section along their lengths. 8. The floor tile system of claim 1, wherein the upward facing surface comprises an open surface having a plurality of openings formed therein. 9. A floor tile, comprising: a top surface layer having upward and downward facing surfaces;a first support layer permanently mounted to and extending downward from the top surface layer;a second support layer releasably mounted to at least one of the top surface layer and the first support layer and positioned abutting against the downward facing surface;wherein when the floor tile is positioned on a support surface and a force is applied to the upward facing surface of the top surface layer, the second support layer compresses to permit contact of at least a portion of the first support layer against the support surface, and when the force is removed from the upward facing surface, the second support layer automatically moves the first support layer out of contact with the support surface. 10. The floor tile of claim 9, wherein the second support layer comprises a plurality of compressible support members. 11. The floor tile of claim 9, wherein the second support layer comprises at least one of an elastomeric material and a plastic material. 12. The floor tile of claim 10, wherein at least some of the compressible support members have a hollow construction. 13. The floor tile of claim 10, wherein at least some of the compressible support members have a cylindrical construction. 14. The floor tile of claim 10, wherein at least some of the compressible support members have an undulating outer surface. 15. The floor tile of claim 9, wherein the second support layer is connected to the first support layer with an interference fit. 16. A floor tile, comprising: a plurality of rigid supports each having a top portion and a bottom portion, at least some of the top portions being connected to each other, the bottom portions being spaced from each other;a plurality of compressible support members, at least some of the plurality of compressible support members contact exterior surfaces of at least some of the plurality of rigid supports at locations along a length of the plurality of rigid supports to maintain a releasable connection there between. 17. The floor tile of claim 16, further comprising a top surface layer having upward and downward facing surfaces, wherein the plurality of rigid supports and the plurality of compressible support members extend downward from the downward facing surface of the top surface layer, and wherein at least some of the plurality of compressible support members are removably inserted in between clusters of at least some of the plurality of rigid supports. 18. A floor tile, comprising: a plurality of rigid supports;a plurality of compressible support members;wherein at least some of the plurality of compressible support members deform around at least one of the plurality of rigid supports to maintain a releasable connection there between, wherein when uncompressed, the plurality of compressible support members extend downward beyond the plurality of rigid supports, and when in at least one compressed position, the plurality of compressible support members extend to a length of the plurality of rigid supports. 19. A floor tile, comprising: a plurality of rigid supports;a plurality of compressible support members;wherein at least some of the plurality of compressible support members deform around at least one of the plurality of rigid supports to maintain a releasable connection there between, wherein when uncompressed, the plurality of compressible support members have a length that is greater than a length of the plurality of rigid supports, and when compressed, the plurality of compressible support members have a length that is equal to the length of the plurality of rigid supports. 20. A floor tile, comprising: a plurality of rigid supports;a plurality of compressible support members;wherein at least some of the plurality of compressible support members deform around at least one of the plurality of rigid supports to maintain a releasable connection there between; anda top surface layer having upward and downward facing surfaces, wherein the plurality of rigid supports and the plurality of compressible support members extend downward from the downward facing surface of the top surface layer, wherein the plurality of compressible support members abut against the downward facing surface.
