1. An analyte monitoring system adapted to determine a compatibility of a first device adapted to obtain monitored data, the analyte monitoring system comprising: a second device comprising: one or more processors; andnon-transitory memory comprising software stored thereon that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to: retrieve (a) information including a predetermined list of one or more acceptable identification codes related to one or more first device configurations compatible with the analyte monitoring system and (b) one or more software functions associated with the one or more first device configurations;compare identification code data received from the first device with the one or more acceptable identification codes from the retrieved predetermined list, wherein the identification code data is related to a configuration of the first device;determine whether the configuration of the first device is compatible with the analyte monitoring system by identification of the received identification code data in the retrieved predetermined list; anddetermine a software function from the one or more retrieved software functions to process monitored data obtained by the first device. 2. The analyte monitoring system of claim 1, wherein the non-transitory memory comprises software stored thereon that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to: cause an alert to be output to a user if it is determined that the configuration of the first device is not compatible with the analyte monitoring system. 3. The analyte monitoring system of claim 1, wherein the non-transitory memory comprises software stored thereon that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to: cause the communication of compatibility data of the first device to the first device. 4. The analyte monitoring system of claim 1, wherein the identification code data includes at least one key code. 5. The analyte monitoring system of claim 1, wherein the identification code data includes at least one of a radio-identification code and a resistive code. 6. The analyte monitoring system of claim 1, wherein the identification code data includes information related to a range of acceptable sensitivities of the first device and wherein the identification code data allows a glucose calculation. 7. The analyte monitoring system of claim 1, wherein the identification code data includes information related to a version of the first device. 8. The analyte monitoring system of claim 1, further comprising the first device, wherein the first device comprises an analyte sensor positionable under a skin surface of a user to monitor analyte levels in the user. 9. The analyte monitoring system of claim 1, wherein the monitored data includes analyte data obtained by the first device. 10. The analyte monitoring system of claim 9, wherein the non-transitory memory comprises software stored thereon that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to: if it is determined that the first device is compatible with the analyte monitoring system, process analyte data received from the first device using the determined software function, wherein the received analyte data relates to an analyte level of a user; andcause the display, on a display unit, of the processed analyte data to the user. 11. The analyte monitoring system of claim 1, wherein the predetermined list includes a key code of the first device. 12. The analyte monitoring system of claim 1, wherein the first device comprises at least one of a continuous analyte monitor, an analyte sensor, a receiver device, a repeater device, or an insulin pump. 13. The analyte monitoring system of claim 1, wherein the determined software function corresponds to the received identification code data. 14. The analyte monitoring device of claim 1, wherein the second device is a mobile phone. 15. An analyte monitoring system adapted to determine a compatibility of a first device, the analyte monitoring system comprising: a second device comprising: one or more processors; andnon-transitory memory comprising software stored thereon that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to: retrieve (a) information including a predetermined list of one or more identification codes related to one or more first device configurations and (b) one or more software functions associated with the one or more first device configurations;compare identification code data received from the first device with the one or more identification codes, wherein the identification code data is related to a configuration of the first device; anddetermine an appropriate software function for processing monitored analyte data obtained by the first device by determining a stored software function that corresponds to the received identification code data, wherein the monitored analyte data relates to an analyte level of a user. 16. The analyte monitoring system of claim 15, further comprising the first device, wherein the first device includes at least one of a continuous analyte monitor, an analyte sensor, a receiver device, a repeater device, or an insulin pump. 17. The analyte monitoring system of claim 15, wherein the second device further comprises wireless communication circuitry adapted to receive the identification code data, and wherein the non-transitory memory comprises software stored thereon that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to: retrieve the predetermined list from a first database stored at a first location; andretrieve the one or more software functions from a second database stored at a second location separate from the first location. 18. The analyte monitoring system of claim 15, further comprising the first device, wherein the first device comprises an analyte sensor positionable under a skin surface of a user to monitor analyte levels in the user. 19. The analyte monitoring system of claim 15, wherein the non-transitory memory comprises software stored thereon that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to: process monitored analyte data obtained by the first device using the determined appropriate software function for a glucose calculation. 20. The analyte monitoring device of claim 15, wherein the second device is a mobile phone.
