The apparatus of claim 1, wherein first lost motion member is a gear. 4. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the second lost motion member is a cam placed in the recessed pocket. 5. The apparatus of claim 4, which further includes a key pad configured to receive a pass code useful in activating the motor to extend or retract the bolt. 6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the motor is coupled to a gear train via a gearing, and wherein the gearing permits the motor to be back driven. 7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the gearing includes a pinion gear connected to the motor. 8. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the motor places the first lost motion member in a home state after actuation of the drive member, and wherein a degraded mode of the door access device places the drive member in a position intermediate extended bolt and retracted bolt orientations, the second lost motion member capable of backdriving the gear train to alleviate the degraded mode. 9. An apparatus comprising: a powered door access device module structured to operate a bolt that can be extended and retracted to secure a door, the device module also having a receptacle for receiving an energy storage device useful to provide power to a motor to extend and retract the bolt and a user grappling member useful to permit a user to extend and retract the bolt when the device module is coupled with a door and bolt assembly; anda lost motion assembly disposed within the powered door access device module having a first lost motion member oriented to be driven directly via the motor and a second lost motion member oriented to extend and retract the bolt, at least a portion of the first lost motion member having a plurality of teeth position radially about an outer surface of the first lost motion member, the second lost motion member positioned in a recessed pocket in the first lost motion member at a depth into the first lost motion member such that at least a portion of the plurality of teeth extends axially above the second lost motion member, at least one wall that generally defines a portion of the recesses pocket into the first lost motion member positioned to contact a portion of the second lost motion member positioned within the recessed pocket to transmit power from the motor to the bolt such that the first lost motion member is capable of moving over an operating range to convey the second lost motion member between a bolt retracted position and a bolt extended position, the first lost motion member also having a deadband of contact with the second lost motion member that corresponds substantially to the operating range such that after the second lost motion member is conveyed between the bolt retracted position and the bolt extended position the first lost motion member can be reversed and return to a starting position substantially without disrupting a circumferential orientation of the second lost motion member relative to the first lost motion member. 10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the first lost motion member and the second lost motion member are rotatable devices having a common axis of rotation. 11. The apparatus of claim 9, which further includes a gear train between the motor and the first lost motion member, the gear train structured to convey torque from the motor to cause rotation of the first lost motion member and structured to convey torque from the first lost motion member to the motor to cause backdriven motion of the motor. 12. The apparatus of claim 11, which further includes a front side keypad capable of activating the motor to move the bolt between the extended and retracted positions. 13. The apparatus of claim 12, which further includes a front side lock with keyhole. 14. The apparatus of claim 9, which further includes a drive member capable of being driven by the motor and the user grappling member, the drive member having a registration surface that permits one way coupling with a bolt device. 15. An apparatus comprising: a powered bolt assembly structured to be coupled to a door and having a keyed entry side and a user exit side that includes a user grappling member, a motor disposed internal to the powered bolt assembly and coupled with a bolt via a gearing, and a drive member structured to receive an operating force from the user grappling member to extend or retract the bolt; andmeans for permitting movement of the drive member between an extended position and a retracted position without corresponding movement of the motor, wherein the means includes circumferential abutment means for maintaining a captured orientation of a motor driven lost motion member and a lost motion member structured to drive the bolt, and wherein the means is structured to reverse and return to a starting position the motor driven lost motion member substantially without disrupting a circumferential orientation of the lost motion member relative to the motor driven lost motion member, the lost motion member being positioned in a recessed pocket beneath an outer surface of the motor driven lost motion member, the motor driven lost motion member and the lost motion member having a common axis of rotation, at least one wall of the recessed pocket structured to contact the lost motion member in a manner that selectively displaces the second lost motion member. 16. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the user grappling member is a thumb turn, and which further includes a gear assembly capable of being driven in a forward and a backward direction such that force applied to the thumb turn causes the motor to be driven through the gear assembly. 17. A method comprising: transmitting a bolt movement signal to a powered door lock bolt assembly to move a bolt used to secure and unsecure a door;developing a bolt control signal as a result of the transmitting;energizing a motor of a powered door bolt assembly to move in a first direction a first lost motion member in contact with a second lost motion member;driving the second lost motion member with the first lost motion member to an extended bolt position used to secure a door, the second lost motion member connected to a bolt via a drive member and positioned within a recessed pocket of the first lost motion member, the recessed pocket forming a portion of a bore that extends through the first lost motion member, said step of driving including displacing a portion of the first lost motion member into driving contact with a portion of the second lost motion member that is positioned within the bore of the first lost motion member; andreturning the first lost motion member to a home position in a direction opposite the first direction while maintaining the same circumferential orientation of the first lost motion member relative to the second lost motion member. 18. The method of claim 17, wherein the first lost motion member contacts the second lost motion member on a first surface when in the first direction, and which further includes moving in a second direction the second lost motion member with a second surface of the first lost motion member to a retracted bolt position. 19. The method of claim 17, which further includes torqueing a user grappling member to change a position of the bolt between a relatively extended position and a relatively retracted position, the change of position occurring without reciprocal motion from the motor. 20. The method of claim 17, turning a key that has been inserted into a keyhole to change a position of the bolt between a relatively extended position and a relatively retracted position, the change of position occurring without corresponding motion from the motor. 21. The method of claim 17, which further includes backdriving the motor as a result of torqueing a user grappling member.
