Anchoring devices, anchoring systems for intervertebral implants, intervertebral implants, and instruments and methods for implanting implants are disclosed. In preferred configurations, these various objects share the feature of comprising or cooperating with an anchoring device (1) having a body comprising at least one curved plate (10) elongated along a longitudinal axis (L), designed to be inserted through a passage (21) crossing at least a part of implant (2), in order to penetrate into at least one vertebral endplate and attach implant (2) onto this vertebral endplate by means of at least one stop retaining the implant, characterized in that the body comprises at least one longitudinal rib (11) on at least a part of at least one of its faces, said rib (11) being designed to cooperate with a groove (211) made in passage (21) of implant (2). In some preferred configurations, anchoring device (1) comprises withdrawal stops or latches (12), and/or means (40) for withdrawing the anchor from an inserted position.

An instrument for implantation of an implant into an intervertebral space and for implantation into a vertebra of an anchor having a body comprising a rigid, elongated, curved plate having edges disposed on sides of the plate and an elongated rib projecting away from a broad surface of the plate between the edges, the instrument comprising: an impactor having an impactor head configured to push the anchor; andan elongated guide having a gripping end and a pushing end, the guide comprising a gripping device disposed at the gripping end and configured to grip the implant, anda guide head configured to at least partially accommodate the impactor head, the guide head comprising a side wall having at least one guidance surface having a radius of curvature substantially the same as a radius of curvature of the anchor plate and configured to receive an edge of the anchor plate and to guide the anchor into a passage of the implant; anda groove disposed in an upper or lower wall of the guide head configured to receive the rib of the anchor and to guide the rib of the anchor during passage of the anchor through the guide head. 2. The instrument of claim 1 further comprising an adapter configured for loading an anchor in the guide head. 3. The instrument of claim 2 in which the impactor head comprises an elongated body and the adapter is configured to slide along the elongated body of the impactor head during the loading of an anchor in the guide head. 4. The instrument of claim 2 in which the adapter comprises a curved groove prolonging the guidance surface of the guide head when the adapter abuts the guide head. 5. A system for treatment of a spine comprising: an anchor comprising a body comprising a rigid, elongated, curved plate extending between a first end configured to penetrate into a vertebra and a second end configured for urging the anchor into a vertebra, the plate having a radius of curvature; anda connection for an anchor-extraction tool disposed along the body proximal to the posterior end;an intervertebral implant comprising at least one peripheral wall;a passage in the peripheral wall configured to receive the anchor through an exterior opening of the passage disposed along the peripheral wall and project the anchor toward the upper vertebra or the lower vertebra without deformation of the plate; andan access disposed along the peripheral wall configured to allow an anchor-extraction tool to reach the connection on the anchor when the anchor is fully inserted in the implant; andan instrument comprising: an impactor having an impactor head configured to push the anchor; andan elongated guide having a gripping end and a pushing end, the guide comprising a gripping device disposed at the gripping end and configured to grip the implant, anda guide head configured to at least partially accommodate the impactor head, the guide head comprising at least one guidance surface having a radius of curvature substantially the same as the radius of curvature of the anchor plate and configured to guide the anchor through a passage of the implant. 6. The device of claim 5 in which the passage is straight. 7. The device of claim 5 in which the anchor has a rib disposed along a broad side of the anchor and the passage has a groove configured to accommodate the rib. 8. The device of claim 7 in which the guide head comprises a groove configured to guide the rib of the anchor during passage of the anchor through the guide head. 9. The device of claim 5 in which the anchor has a latch configured to inhibit withdrawal of the anchor from the implant after full insertion of the anchor in the implant, and the implant provides access to release the latch after full insertion of the anchor in the implant. 10. The device of claim 5 in which the anchor body comprises a thickened portion configured for contact with an inner wall of the passage to stabilize the anchor in the implant. 11. The device of claim 5 in which the connection is at least one recess in the plate. 12. The device of claim 5 in which the connection is a bar disposed along the posterior end. 13. The device of claim 5 in which the connection is comprised in a stop configured to retain the implant against a vertebra. 14. A system for anchoring an intervertebral implant comprising: a first anchor and a separate, independently orientable second anchor each having a body comprising a rigid elongated plate extending between a first end configured to penetrate into a vertebra and a second end configured for urging the anchor into a vertebra;a first stop disposed proximal to the second end of the first anchor; anda second stop disposed proximal to the second end of the second anchor; withthe first stop and the second stop being configured for the first stop to contact the second anchor to retain the second anchor in an intervertebral implant and for the second stop to contact the first anchor to retain the first anchor in the intervertebral implant. 15. The system of claim 14 in which: the first stop comprises a first surface facing the first end of the first anchor and a second surface facing the second end of the first anchor, andthe second stop comprises a third surface facing the first end of the second anchor configured to engage the second surface of the first stop, anda latch configured to engage the first surface of the first stop. 16. The system of claim 15 in which at least one of the first anchor and the second anchor comprises an access to the latch configured to allow disengagement of the latch from the first surface of the first stop. 17. The system of claim 15 in which the first stop protrudes from a rib disposed longitudinally along a broad surface of the plate of the first anchor. 18. The system of claim 17 in which the second stop protrudes from a rib disposed longitudinally along a broad surface of the plate of the second anchor. 19. The system of claim 18 in which the latch comprises a flexible tab formed along the rib of the second anchor. 20. The system of claim 19 in which at least one of the first anchor and the second anchor comprises an opening configured to allow pressing the flexible tab to disengage the latch from the first surface of the first stop. 21. A device for treatment of a spine comprising: an anchor comprising a leading end configured for penetration of vertebra and a trailing end having an abutment stop,a rigid plate elongated in an elongation direction extending from a first plate end disposed proximally to the trailing end to a second plate end disposed proximally to the leading end, the elongated rigid plate having a first surface curved in the elongated direction and a second surface curved in the elongated direction and disposed on an opposite side of the rigid plate from the first curved surface, andan elongated rib projecting from the first surface and extending in the elongation direction; andan intervertebral implant comprising at least one peripheral wall,a passage in the peripheral wall configured to receive the anchor through an exterior opening of the passage disposed along the peripheral wall and project a tip of the anchor away from a side of the intervertebral implant without deformation of the plate. 22. The device of claim 21 further comprising an instrument comprising: an impactor having an impactor head configured to push the anchor; andan elongated guide having an implant-attachment end and a handle disposed at an end of the elongated guide opposite the implant-attachment end, the elongated guide comprising a guide head configured to at least partially accommodate the impactor head, and the guide head comprising at least one curved guidance surface configured to guide the anchor into the passage of the implant. 23. The device of claim 22 in which the guide head comprises a groove configured to guide the elongated rib of the anchor during passage of the anchor through the guide head. 24. The device of claim 21 in which the first surface is concave. 25. The device of claim 21 in which the first surface is convex. 26. The device of claim 21 in which the passage comprises a slot configured to receive the rib when the passage receives the anchor.
