초록

A shapewear or activewear garment that includes stays carried by the back fabric panel of the garment. In this regard, the stays act as anchors to keep the garment in place. Further, the stays provide tension that pulls the front fabric panel of the garment such that the front panel shapes and smoothes the wearer's midsection and or provides support and also provides resistance to shift when the garment is worn such that the garment does not ride up or down on the wearer.

1. A garment comprising: a front fabric panel configured to rest on a front midsection of a wearer;a back fabric panel configured to rest on a back of a wearer;said front panel connected to said back panel;a pair of leg openings each leg opening configured for the leg of the wearer to extend therethrough when the garment is worn;at least one pair of stays carried by the garment, wherein the stays are located only in or on the back panel thereby forming an anchor and wherein fabric is interposed between the stays and the skin surface of the wearer; andwherein the anchor formed by the stays smoothes the front panel over the wearer's midsection when the garment is worn. 2. The garment according to claim 1, wherein the stays are oriented lengthwise and are positioned such that, when worn, the length of the stay is approximately parallel to a spine of the wearer and wherein the stays are approximately parallel to each other. 3. The garment of claim 1, wherein, when worn, the stays are configured to be located in a lower back region of the back of the wearer. 4. The garment of claim 1, wherein the stays are located within 60 degrees of an axis bisecting a torso of the wearer, the axis passing through a centerline of the front and back panel of the garment when worn by the wearer. 5. The garment according to claim 1, further comprising a support panel attached to the back fabric panel, the support panel having a length measured parallel to a spine of the wearer when the garment is worn by the wearer, wherein the length of the support panel is less than a length of the back fabric panel measured in the same direction. 6. The garment according to claim 1, further comprising a support panel attached to the back fabric panel, the support panel having a length approximately equal to a length of the stays, where the length of each is measured parallel to a spine of the wearer when the garment is worn by the wearer. 7. The garment according to claim 1, further comprising a support panel attached to the back fabric panel, the support panel including a V-shaped cut-out near a waist of the garment such that an area of the back panel within the V-shaped cut-out has greater release than the support panel surrounding the area. 8. The garment according to claim 1, further comprising a support panel attached to the back fabric panel such that the stays are positioned on or adjacent to edges of the support panel, the edges parallel to the spine of the wearer when the garment is worn by the wearer. 9. The garment according to claim 1, further comprising first and second support panels attached to the back fabric panel such that a width of the combined first and second support panels extends from a first end of the front fabric panel to a second end of the front fabric panel. 10. The garment according to claim 1, further comprising first and second support panels attached to the back fabric panel, wherein the first support panel has an elasticity in a first direction that is different than an elasticity of the second support panel in the first direction. 11. The garment according to claim 1, further comprising a support panel attached to the back fabric panel and extending around the back of the garment so that both a first and second end of the support panel abut the front fabric panel. 12. The garment according to claim 1, further comprising a wrap panel supported by the front fabric panel, the wrap panel sized and positioned on the front fabric panel such that at least one edge of the front fabric panel is remote from the wrap panel. 13. The garment of claim 1 wherein the garment has a polymer feature disposed thereon such that the polymer feature will contact the wearer when the garment is worn. 14. The garment of claim 13 wherein the polymer is silicone. 15. The garment of claim 13 wherein the polymer is located adjacent to an edge of the garment. 16. The garment of claim 15 wherein the polymer is located near the waist of the garment. 17. The garment of claim 16 wherein the polymer is located between the pair of stays. 18. The garment of claim 1 wherein the front fabric panel and the back fabric panel are the same fabric. 19. The garment of claim 1, further comprising a wrap panel supported by the front fabric panel, the wrap panel including a V-shaped cut-out near the waist of the garment such that an area of the front panel within the V-shaped cut-out has greater release than the wrap panel surrounding the area. 20. The garment of claim 1, further comprising a support panel attached to the back fabric panel, the support panel being stretchable and providing additional support to the wearer. 21. The garment of claim 1, wherein the stays extend from a waist of the garment downward. 22. The garment of claim 1 wherein the garment is a strapless garment. 23. The garment of claim 22 wherein the garment is a strapless garment further comprising a brassiere portion. 24. A garment comprising: a front fabric panel configured to rest on a front midsection of a wearer;a back fabric panel configured to rest on a back of a wearer, said front panel connected to said back panel; anda support panel;a pair of leg openings each leg opening configured for the leg of the wearer to extend therethrough when the garment is worn;wherein the support panel is configured to receive stays, wherein there are no stays disposed in or on the front fabric panel; andwherein the support panel is attached to the back fabric panel whereby the stays form an anchor in the support panel thereby smoothing the front panel over a midsection of the wearer when the garment is worn, the support panel attached so that the support panel rests on the back of the wearer. 25. The garment according to claim 24, wherein the stays are placed on or in the support panel approximately parallel to each other and, when worn, are equidistant from a spine of the wearer. 26. The garment according to claim 24, wherein the stays are located within 60 degrees of an axis bisecting a torso of the wearer, the axis passing through a centerline of the front and back panel of the garment when worn by the wearer. 27. The garment according to claim 24, wherein the stays have a length approximately equal to a length of the support panel, each length measured parallel to a spine of the wearer when the garment is worn by the wearer. 28. The garment according to claim 24 further comprising a silicone feature disposed on and supported by the back fabric panel such that the silicone feature is in contact with the wearer when the garment is worn. 29. The garment of claim 24, wherein the back panel has a first elasticity property and the support panel has a second elasticity property. 30. The garment of claim 24, wherein the support panel includes a V-shaped cut out near the waist of the garment such that an area of the back panel within the V-shaped cut-out has greater release than the support panel surrounding the area. 31. A garment configured as a strapless brassiere comprising: a front fabric panel configured to rest on a front midsection of a wearer;a back fabric panel configured to rest on a back of a wearer;said front panel connected to said back panel;a brassiere portion; andat least one stay carried by the back fabric panel;wherein the stays are about 1 inch to about 7 inches in length. 32. A garment configured as a waistline garment comprising: a front fabric panel configured to rest on a front midsection of a wearer;a back fabric panel configured to rest on a back of a wearer; said front panel connected to said back fabric panel; andat least one stay carried by the back fabric panel;wherein the stays are about 2 inches to about 4 inches in length; andwherein the stays are positioned on the garment such that, when the garment is worn, the stays in the garment form an anchor in the back fabric panel. 33. The garment of claim 32 wherein the garment is a camisole. 34. A camisole comprising: a front fabric panel configured to rest on a front midsection of a wearer;a back fabric panel configured to rest on a back of a wearer;said front panel connected to said back panel;a brassiere portion; andat least one pair of stays carried by the garment, wherein the stays are located only in or on the back panel thereby forming an anchor and wherein fabric is interposed between the stays and the skin surface of the wearer; andwherein the anchor formed by the stays smoothes the front panel over the wearer's midsection when the garment is worn. 35. The garment of claim 34 wherein the garment has a polymer feature disposed thereon such that the polymer feature will contact the wearer when the garment is worn. 36. The garment of claim 35 wherein the polymer is silicone. 37. The garment of claim 35 wherein the polymer is located adjacent to an edge of the garment. 38. The garment of claim 35 wherein the polymer is located near a wearer's waist when the garment is worn.
