A patient side cart for a teleoperated surgical system may include a base, a column connected to the base, a boom connected to the column, a manipulator arm connected to the boom, and a vibration reduction member. The manipulator arm may be configured to support a surgical instrument. The vibration reduction member may be configured to be moved between deployed and retracted positions relative to the base. The vibration reduction member may engage a ground surface in the deployed position and not be in contact with the ground surface in the retracted position. Various exemplary embodiments also relate to carts including a vibration reduction member and methods of controlling a vibration reduction member.

1. A patient side cart for a teleoperated surgical system, the cart comprising: a base;a column connected to the base;a boom connected to the column;a manipulator arm connected to the boom, the manipulator arm configured to support a surgical instrument; anda vibration reduction member configured to be moved between deployed and retracted positions relative to the base;wherein the vibration reduction member engages a ground surface in the deployed position and is not in contact with the ground surface in the retracted position. 2. The patient side cart of claim 1, wherein the vibration reduction member is coupled to the base and is received in the base in the retracted position. 3. The patient side cart of claim 1, further comprising a plurality of vibration reduction members. 4. The patient side cart of claim 1, further comprising a biasing device to bias the vibration reduction member to the retracted position. 5. The patient side cart of claim 4, further comprising an actuation device to move the vibration reduction member from the retracted position to the deployed position. 6. The patient side cart of claim 5, wherein the actuation device exerts a force to overcome the biasing device. 7. The patient side cart of claim 5, further comprising a hydraulic pressure system configured to supply hydraulic pressure to the actuation device. 8. The patient side cart of claim 7, wherein the patient side cart comprises a plurality of vibration reduction members and a plurality of actuation devices to actuate respective vibration reduction members, wherein the hydraulic pressure system comprises a single hydraulic circuit configured to supply the hydraulic pressure to the plurality of actuation devices. 9. The patient side cart of claim 7, wherein the hydraulic pressure system comprises a sensor configured to monitor the hydraulic pressure. 10. The patient side cart of claim 7, further comprising a manual release device configured to be manually actuated by a user to release the hydraulic pressure. 11. The patient side cart of claim 10, wherein the manual release device is configured to actuate a release valve of the hydraulic pressure system. 12. The patient side cart of claim 10, further comprising a wheel driven by an electric motor, wherein the electric motor is locked in the deployed position of the vibration reduction member; wherein actuation of the manual release device unlocks the electric motor to permit the wheel to freely rotate. 13. The patient side cart of claim 10, wherein the manual release device is located in a compartment within the base, the compartment being closeable by a door; andwherein, when the manual release device is in an actuated state, a stop member is positioned to block closing of the door. 14. The patient side cart of claim 5, further comprising a controller configured to control deployment and retraction of the vibration reduction member. 15. The patient side cart of claim 14, wherein the controller is configured to automatically deploy the vibration reduction member upon the occurrence of a first event and is configured to automatically retract the vibration reduction member upon the occurrence of a second event. 16. The patient side cart of claim 15, wherein the first event is mounting a cannula to manipulator arm. 17. The patient side cart of claim 16, wherein the second event is removal of a cannula mounted to the patient side cart. 18. The patient side cart of claim 16, wherein the cannula is a last remaining cannula mounted to the patient side cart during a surgical procedure. 19. The patient side cart of claim 1, further comprising a controller configured to control deployment and retraction of the vibration reduction member. 20. A cart comprising: a base;a plurality of wheels connected to the base and configured to transport the cart along a ground surface; anda vibration reduction member configured to be moved between deployed and retracted positions relative to the base, wherein the vibration reduction member is in contact with the ground surface in the deployed position and is not in contact with the ground surface in the retracted position. 21. The cart of claim 20, further comprising a biasing device to bias the vibration reduction member to the retracted position. 22. The cart of claim 21, further comprising an actuation device to move the vibration reduction member from the retracted position to the deployed position. 23. The cart of claim 22, wherein the actuation device exerts a force to overcome the biasing device. 24. The cart of claim 20, further comprising a controller configured to control deployment and retraction of the vibration reduction member.
