The base unit of the vehicle according to claim 2, wherein the resilient biasing element applies a biasing moment MB to the suspension element that has a value greater than a weight moment Mw of the suspension element when the suspension element is in the upper position. 4. The base unit of the vehicle according to claim 1, wherein the at least one wheel includes at least two wheels that are each mounted on the chassis by a corresponding one of the suspension mechanism comprising a corresponding one of the suspension element, said corresponding suspension elements being arranged to pivot relative to the chassis about a corresponding substantially horizontal pivot axis between a corresponding upper position and a corresponding lower position, wherein each of the at least two wheels are pivotable about the corresponding pivot axis independent of the other wheel of the at least two wheels.
