A blister and package system made of a blister card and an outer package with unique interacting locking mechanisms. The blister card or strip is inserted into the outer package or sleeve and locks immediately without having to further process the outer package or the blister card or strip. The user is able to expose the blisters from the outer package by disengaging the lock. The blister card or strip includes a formable, pliable sheet material, into which one or more individual cavities or blisters are formed. The separated cavities are loaded with product and sealed with one or more layers of puncturable or tearable sheet material, such as aluminum foil. The blister card or strip contains a plastic rivet assembly that forms an interference mechanism. The rivet is trapped by an internally formed panel and stopped by a catch flap included in the outer package.

A packaging apparatus comprising: a sleeve;a base comprising at least one blister, wherein the at least one blister comprises at least one opening with a perimeter;a backing coupled to said base, wherein the backing comprises a cut-score surrounding the perimeter of the opening;a locking member coupled to the base, wherein the locking member comprises a male rivet member coupled to a female rivet member;wherein the base is slidable within the sleeve;wherein the locking member is configured to releasably lock the base within the sleeve in a first position; andwherein the locking member is configured to prevent removal of the base from the sleeve. 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the at least one blister is adapted to being pushed inwards to an inverted state to disrupt the backing. 3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the male rivet member abuts a top surface of the base. 4. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the female rivet member abuts a bottom surface of the base. 5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the backing comprises a scored line on an internal edge of the at least one blister. 6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the base is substantially flexible. 7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the locking member is substantially rigid. 8. A packaging apparatus comprising: a sleeve;a base comprising at least one blister, wherein the blister comprises an opening with a perimeter on the base;a backing coupled to said base, wherein the backing comprises a cut-score surrounding the perimeter of the opening;a locking member coupled to the base, wherein the locking member comprises a male rivet member coupled to a female rivet member;wherein the base is slidable within said sleeve;wherein the locking member is configured to releasably lock said base within the sleeve in a first position; andwherein the locking member is configured to prevent the base from being removed from the sleeve. 9. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the at least one blister is adapted to being pushed inwards to release a product. 10. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the backing comprises a scored line on an internal edge of the at least one blister. 11. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the male rivet member abuts a top surface of the base, and wherein the female rivet member abuts a bottom surface of the base. 12. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the locking member comprises a pin and a rivet member comprising at least one edge. 13. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the base is substantially flexible. 14. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the locking member is substantially rigid.
