Methods and systems for autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicle routing are disclosed. Roadway suitability for autonomous operation is scored to facilitate use in route determination. Maps of roadways suitable for various levels of autonomous operation may be generated. Such map data may be used by autonomous vehicles or other computer devices in determining routes based upon criteria for vehicle trips. Such routes may be automatically updated based upon changes in road conditions, vehicle conditions, operator conditions, or environmental conditions. Emergency routing using such map data is described, such as automatic routing and travel when a passenger is experiencing a medical emergency.

A computer-implemented method for automatically routing a vehicle capable of autonomous operation, comprising: receiving, at one or more processors, an indication of an emergency condition;determining, by the one or more processors, a target location to which to route the vehicle, wherein the tar
1. A computer-implemented method for automatically routing a vehicle capable of autonomous operation, comprising: receiving, at one or more processors, an indication of an emergency condition;determining, by the one or more processors, a target location to which to route the vehicle, wherein the target location is associated with emergency assistance;determining, by the one or more processors, a route to the target location, wherein the route includes only road segments meeting a minimum safety rating for fully autonomous vehicle operation, wherein the minimum safety rating of the road segments is associated with a risk level for fully autonomous operation of the vehicle below a risk threshold; andcausing, by the one or more processors, a vehicle control system of the vehicle to operate the vehicle along the determined route to the target location. 2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the indication of the emergency condition is automatically generated based upon sensor data regarding health of a vehicle user within the vehicle. 3. The computer-implemented method of claim 2, wherein the sensor data regarding the health of the vehicle user is received from a personal sensor device configured to monitor one or more health metrics associated with the health of the vehicle user. 4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the indication of the emergency condition is automatically generated based upon sensor data indicating the vehicle has been involved in a collision. 5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the indication of the emergency condition is generated by operation of an emergency button by a vehicle user within the vehicle, which emergency button is presented on an electronic display screen within the vehicle. 6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the indication of the emergency condition further includes information indicating a type of the emergency condition. 7. The computer-implemented method of claim 6, wherein the target location is determined based upon the type of the emergency condition. 8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising: presenting to a person within the vehicle, by a display or speaker within the vehicle, a message requesting confirmation of the emergency condition, which message includes an option to suppress the indication of the emergency condition, wherein the vehicle is operated along the determined route to the target location unless the option to suppress the indication is selected. 9. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the one or more processors are disposed within one or more of an on-board computer of the vehicle or a mobile device within the vehicle, and the one or more processors are configured to control operation of the vehicle by a data application. 10. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising: generating, by the one or more processors, an alert including information regarding the emergency condition and the target location; andcommunicating, via a communication network, the alert to an interested party remote from the vehicle to inform such interested party of the emergency condition and the target location. 11. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the target location is a geospatial location on a road segment meeting the minimum safety rating and in proximity to an emergency care facility. 12. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein: the target location is associated with an emergency vehicle; andthe target location is repeatedly updated based upon a plurality of locations of the emergency vehicle as the emergency vehicle moves. 13. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising: causing, by the one or more processors, the vehicle control system of the vehicle to operate one or more signaling components of the vehicle to draw attention to the vehicle upon reaching the target location. 14. A computer system for automatically routing a vehicle capable of autonomous operation, comprising: one or more processors;a map database communicatively connected to the one or more processors and storing map data including one or more suitability scores for each of a plurality of road segments indicating the road segment's suitability for autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle operation; anda program memory coupled to the one or more processors and storing executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computer system to: receive an indication of an emergency condition;determine a target location to which to route the vehicle, wherein the target location is associated with emergency assistance;determine a route to the target location using the map data of the map database, wherein the route includes only road segments meeting a minimum safety rating for fully autonomous vehicle operation, wherein the minimum safety rating of the road segments is associated with a risk level for fully autonomous operation of the vehicle below a risk threshold; andcause a vehicle control system of the vehicle to operate the vehicle along the determined route to the target location. 15. The computer system of claim 14, wherein the indication of the emergency condition is automatically generated based upon sensor data regarding health of a vehicle user within the vehicle received from a personal sensor device configured to monitor one or more health metrics associated with the health of the vehicle user. 16. The computer system of claim 14, wherein the program memory further stores executable instructions that cause the computer system to: determine a type of the emergency condition, wherein the target location is determined based at least in part upon the type of the emergency condition;generate, an alert including information regarding the emergency condition and the target location; andcommunicate the alert to an interested party remote from the vehicle to inform such interested party of the emergency condition and the target location via a communication network. 17. The computer system of claim 14, wherein the target location is a geospatial location on a road segment meeting the minimum safety rating and in proximity to an emergency care facility. 18. A tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions for automatically routing a vehicle capable of autonomous operation that, when executed by at least one processor of a computer system, cause the computer system to: receive an indication of an emergency condition;determine a target location to which to route the vehicle, wherein the target location is associated with emergency assistance;determine a route to the target location using map data from a map database storing information regarding a plurality of road segments, wherein the route includes only road segments meeting a minimum safety rating for fully autonomous vehicle operation, wherein the minimum safety rating of the road segments is associated with a risk level for fully autonomous operation of the vehicle below a risk threshold; andcause a vehicle control system of the vehicle to operate the vehicle along the determined route to the target location. 19. The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18, wherein the indication of the emergency condition is automatically generated based upon sensor data regarding health of a vehicle user within the vehicle received from a personal sensor device configured to monitor one or more health metrics associated with the health of the vehicle user.
