Improved systems and techniques are disclosed for controlling the security states of anti-theft security systems such as product display assemblies using security fobs. According to an example embodiment, a manager security fob and another security fob that is to be authorized for use in controlling the security status of a product display assembly can interact with a system in accordance with a defined sequence to add the another security fob to an authorization list for the product display assembly. For example, the defined sequence can be a connection of the manager security fob with the system, followed by a disconnection of the manager security fob from the system, followed a connection of the another security fob with the system within a defined window.

1. A method comprising: connecting a security fob with an interface, the interface for cooperation with a processor that manages an authorization list for an anti-theft security system, the authorization list listing one or more identifiers for one or more security fobs that are authorized to control a security status for the anti-theft security system;determining that the connected security fob corresponds to a manager security fob;disconnecting the manager security fob from the interface;in response to the connecting or the disconnecting, starting a timer, the timer defining a time window;re-connecting the manager security fob with the interface without an intervening connection, following the disconnecting, of another security fob with the interface;the processor determining that the re-connecting occurred before expiration of the defined time window; andin response to the determination that the re-connecting occurred before expiration of the defined time window, the processor deleting the one or more identifiers from the authorization list. 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the processor is resident in the anti-theft security system. 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the anti-theft security system comprises a product display assembly adapted to receive a product for display to a consumer. 4. The method of claim 3 wherein the defined time window is a time duration between 5 seconds and 30 seconds. 5. The method of claim 4 wherein the defined time window is a time duration of 10 seconds. 6. The method of claim 3 wherein the connecting and re-connecting steps rely on wireless connections with the interface. 7. The method of claim 3 wherein the connecting and re-connecting steps rely on detachable physical connections with the interface. 8. The method of claim 3 wherein the product display assembly comprises: a puck assembly adapted to receive an electronic device; anda base assembly;wherein the puck assembly is adapted to be moveable between (1) a rest position in which the puck assembly engages with the base assembly and (2) a lift position in which the puck assembly disengages from the base assembly;wherein the puck assembly comprises (1) a puck assembly electrical contact, (2) puck assembly circuitry connected to the puck assembly electrical contact, wherein the puck assembly circuitry includes the security circuitry, (3) a security sensor, and (4) another interface connected to the puck assembly circuitry, the another interface adapted for connection with a power cable that is connectable to a power input of the electronic device;wherein the base assembly contact and the puck assembly contact are adapted to contact each other when the puck assembly is in the rest position to form an electrical connection between the puck assembly circuitry and the base assembly circuitry through which power is provided to the puck assembly;wherein the puck assembly circuitry is configured to, when the puck assembly is in the rest position, draw power from the power source through the electrical connection and provide the drawn power to the another interface for charging the electronic device via the power cable; andwherein the base assembly contact and the puck assembly contact are adapted to lose contact with each other when the puck assembly is in the lift position to thereby break the electrical connection. 9. The method of claim 8 wherein the product display assembly further comprises: a tether assembly adapted to connect the puck assembly with the base assembly. 10. A system comprising: an anti-theft security system;wherein the anti-theft security system comprises an interface and security circuitry;wherein the security circuitry is configured to control a security status for the anti-theft security system based on an authentication of a security fob, the security circuitry including a processor and a memory;wherein the memory is configured to store an authorization list, wherein the authorization is configured to identify one or more identifiers for one or more security fobs that are authorized to control the security status of the anti-theft security system; andwherein the processor is configured to: receive an identifier for a security fob connected to the interface;determine whether the connected security fob corresponds to a manager security fob; andin response to a determination that the connected security fob corresponds to the manager security fob, (1) start a timer that defines a time window, (2) determine whether the manager security fob has been disconnected and re-connected with the interface before expiration of the defined time window, and (3) in response to a determination that the manager security fob has been disconnected and re-connected with the interface before expiration of the defined time window, delete an identifier for another security fob from the authorization list. 11. The system of claim 10 wherein the anti-theft security system comprises a product display assembly adapted to receive a product for display to a consumer. 12. The system of claim 11 wherein the defined time window is a time duration between 5 seconds and 30 seconds. 13. The system of claim 12 wherein the defined time window is a time duration of 10 seconds. 14. The system of claim 11 wherein the interface comprises a wireless interface. 15. The system of claim 11 wherein the interface comprises a physical connector. 16. The system of claim 15 wherein the manager security fob comprises: a security fob physical connector adapted to detachably connect with the anti-theft security system physical connector;a security fob memory configured to store the identifier for the manager security fob; anda security fob processor configured to, in response to a detachable connection between the security fob physical connector and the anti-theft security system physical connector, (1) read the fob identifier from the security fob memory and (2) output data representative of the read fob identifier through the security fob physical connector. 17. The system of claim 16 wherein the manager security fob is a passive security fob that receives operating power from the anti-theft security system following a connection with the anti-theft security system. 18. The system of claim 11 wherein the product display assembly comprises: a puck assembly adapted to receive an electronic device; anda base assembly;wherein the puck assembly is adapted to be moveable between (1) a rest position in which the puck assembly engages with the base assembly and (2) a lift position in which the puck assembly disengages from the base assembly;wherein the puck assembly comprises (1) a puck assembly electrical contact, (2) puck assembly circuitry connected to the puck assembly electrical contact, wherein the puck assembly circuitry includes the security circuitry, (3) a security sensor, and (4) another interface connected to the puck assembly circuitry, the another interface adapted for connection with a power cable that is connectable to a power input of the electronic device;wherein the base assembly contact and the puck assembly contact are adapted to contact each other when the puck assembly is in the rest position to form an electrical connection between the puck assembly circuitry and the base assembly circuitry through which power is provided to the puck assembly;wherein the puck assembly circuitry is configured to, when the puck assembly is in the rest position, draw power from the power source through the electrical connection and provide the drawn power to the another interface for charging the electronic device via the power cable; andwherein the base assembly contact and the puck assembly contact are adapted to lose contact with each other when the puck assembly is in the lift position to thereby break the electrical connection. 19. The system of claim 18 wherein the product display assembly further comprises: a tether assembly adapted to connect the puck assembly with the base assembly. 20.
