The renal therapy blood cleansing system includes a blood circuit including a blood filtering device, a therapy fluid circuit including a balance chamber configured to exchange like volumes of fresh and used therapy fluid, a first pump configured to pump fresh therapy fluid to the balance chamber, a second pump configured to pump used therapy fluid to the balance chamber, and at least one valve located downstream from the balance chamber, the at least one valve enabling fresh therapy fluid from the balance chamber to be directed selectively to (i) a flow path leading to an inlet of the blood filtering device, or (ii) a flow path leading to the blood circuit at a location upstream or downstream of the blood filtering device.

A renal therapy blood cleansing system comprising: a blood circuit including a blood filtering device;a therapy fluid circuit including a balance chamber configured to exchange like volumes of fresh and used therapy fluid, a flow path leading to an inlet of the blood filtering device, a flow path leading to the blood circuit at a location upstream of the blood filtering device, and a flow path leading to the blood circuit at a location downstream of the blood filtering device;a first pump configured to pump fresh therapy fluid to the balance chamber;a second pump configured to pump used therapy fluid to the balance chamber; andat least one valve located downstream from the balance chamber, the at least one valve enabling fresh therapy fluid from the balance chamber to be directed selectively to (i) the flow path leading to an inlet of the blood filtering device, (ii) the flow path leading to the blood circuit at a location upstream of the blood filtering device, or (iii) the flow path leading to the blood circuit at a location downstream of the blood filtering device. 2. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 1, wherein the at least one valve is a three-way valve. 3. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 1, which includes a bypass line enabling fresh therapy fluid from the balance chamber to bypass the blood circuit and be directed back to the balance chamber. 4. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 1, which includes a Y-connection enabling fresh therapy fluid from the balance chamber in (ii) to be directed selectively to the location upstream of the blood filtering device or the location downstream of the blood filtering device. 5. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 1, wherein the at least one valve is pneumatically controlled. 6. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 1, wherein the balance chamber is a first balance chamber, and which includes a second balance chamber, each balance chamber in fluid communication with the first and second pumps, and the at least one valve located downstream from both balance chambers. 7. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 1, which includes at least one filter located downstream from the balance chamber for further purifying the fresh therapy fluid. 8. A renal therapy blood cleansing system comprising: a blood circuit including a blood filtering device;a therapy fluid circuit including a balance chamber configured to exchange like volumes of fresh and used therapy fluid, a flow path leading to the blood circuit at a location upstream of the blood filtering device, and a flow path leading to the blood circuit at a location downstream of the blood filtering device;a first pump configured to pump fresh therapy fluid to the balance chamber;a second pump configured to pump used therapy fluid to the balance chamber; andat least one valve located downstream from the balance chamber, the at least one valve enabling fresh therapy fluid from the balance chamber to be directed selectively to (i) the flow paths leading to the blood circuit at locations upstream and downstream of the blood filtering device, (ii) the flow path leading to the blood circuit at a location upstream of the blood filtering device, or (iii) the flow path leading to the blood circuit at a location downstream of the blood filtering device. 9. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 8, wherein the at least one valve is a three-way valve. 10. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 8, which includes a Y-connection enabling fresh therapy fluid from the balance chamber in (i) to be directed selectively to the location upstream of the blood filtering device or the location downstream of the blood filtering device. 11. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 8, wherein the at least one valve is pneumatically controlled. 12. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 8, wherein the balance chamber is a first balance chamber, and which includes a second balance chamber, each balance chamber in fluid communication with the first and second pumps, and the at least one valve located downstream from both balance chambers. 13. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 8, which includes at least one filter located downstream from the balance chamber for further purifying the fresh therapy fluid. 14. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 8, which includes at least one filter located downstream from the at least one valve for further purifying the fresh therapy fluid. 15. A renal therapy blood cleansing system comprising: a blood circuit including a blood filtering device;a flow path leading to the blood circuit at a location upstream of the blood filtering device;a flow path leading to the blood circuit at a location downstream of the blood filtering device;a balance chamber including a fresh therapy fluid compartment configured to output fresh therapy fluid and a used therapy fluid compartment configured to receive used therapy fluid from an outlet of the blood filtering device;a first pump configured to pump fresh therapy fluid to the balance chamber;a second pump configured to pump used therapy fluid to the balance chamber; andat least one valve located downstream from the balance chamber, the at least one valve enabling fresh therapy fluid from the balance chamber to be directed selectively to (i) the flow paths leading to the blood circuit at locations upstream and downstream of the blood filtering device, or (ii) one of the flow paths leading to the blood circuit at a location upstream or downstream of the blood filtering device. 16. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 15, wherein the at least one valve is a three-way valve. 17. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 15, which includes a bypass line enabling fresh therapy fluid from the balance chamber to bypass the blood circuit and be directed back to the balance chamber. 18. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 15, wherein the at least one valve is pneumatically controlled. 19. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 15, wherein the at least one valve includes a first valve located along the flow path leading to the location upstream of the blood filtering device and a second valve located along the flow path leading to the location downstream of the blood filtering device. 20. The renal therapy blood cleansing system of claim 15, which includes a filter in fluid communication with the flow path leading to at least one of the location upstream of the blood filtering device or the flow path leading to the location downstream of the blood filtering device, the filter for further purifying the fresh therapy fluid.
