A clot retrieval device may include an elongate shaft and an expandable section. The expandable section may include a framework of interconnected strut elements. The connection region between adjacent strut elements may include crown elements. Additionally, the framework may be formed from a substrate material and at least a portion of a plurality of said strut elements may be coated with a coating material. Further, at least a portion of a plurality of said crown elements may not be coated with said coating material.

The clot retrieval device of claim 1, wherein the expandable network is formed of Nitinol. 3. The clot retrieval device of claim 1, wherein the radiopaque material includes one of Barium Sulphate, Bismuth SubCarbonate, Barium OxyChloride, Gold, Tungsten, Platinum, or Tantalum. 4. The clot retrieval device of claim 1, wherein the second coating includes one of a polymer material, a hydrophilic material, or a hydrogel material. 5. The clot retrieval device of claim 1, wherein in the expanded deployed configuration, an outer diameter of the outer expandable body is greater than an outer diameter of the inner expandable body. 6. The clot retrieval device of claim 1, wherein in the shaft is separate from the expandable network of struts. 7. The clot retrieval device of claim 1, wherein the plurality of connections form at least one crown; and wherein each micro-column of the plurality of discrete micro-columns has minimal connectivity between each. 8. The clot retrieval device of claim 7, wherein the at least one crown is at least partially coated with the first coating of radiopaque material. 9. The clot retrieval device of claim 1, wherein in a first unstressed configuration, the second free end of a first micro-column is spaced a first distance from the second free end of an adjacent second micro-column. 10. The clot retrieval device of claim 9, wherein in a second stressed configuration, the second free end of the first micro-column is spaced a second distance from the second free end of the adjacent second micro-column. 11.
