A method of coloring a pre-sintered dental restoration comprises securing a pre-sintered dental restoration having multiple different layers having a different chemical composition of color pigments between adjacent layers; dipping the pre-sintered dental restoration into a coloring liquid, and sintering the pre-sintered dental restoration to acquire a fully sintered ceramic restoration having a translucency and color intensity/chroma with an inverse relationship with the translucency increasing in one direction of the restoration and the color intensity/chroma decreasing in the same direction of the restoration.

1. A method of coloring a pre-sintered dental restoration, the method comprising, in sequence, the steps of: a) securing a pre-sintered dental restoration having multiple different layers having a different chemical composition of color pigments between adjacent layers, and thenb) dipping the pre-sintered dental restoration into a coloring liquid, and thenc) sintering the pre-sintered dental restoration to acquire a fully sintered ceramic restoration having a translucency and color intensity/chroma with an inverse relationship with the translucency increasing in one direction of the restoration and the color intensity/chroma decreasing in the same direction of the restoration. 2. The method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the coloring liquid comprises coloring ions. 3. The method in accordance with claim 1, wherein dipping the pre-sintered dental restoration comprises immersing the pre-sintered dental restoration into the coloring liquid. 4. The method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the sintering is done with regular sintering in the presence of atmospheric air at a temperature of 1,300-1,600° C. with no post HIP processing. 5. The method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the translucency is total light transmittance. 6. A method of coloring a pre-sintered dental restoration, the method comprising, in sequence, the following steps of: a) securing a pre-sintered dental restoration having multiple different layers with each layer having a different chemical composition of color pigments between adjacent layers, including different amounts of yttria between the adjacent layers, with the amount of yttria increased from a lower layer to an upper layer, and thenb) clipping the pre-sintered dental restoration into a coloring liquid, and thenc) sintering the pre-sintered dental restoration to acquire a fully sintered ceramic restoration having a translucency and color intensity/chroma with an inverse relationship with the translucency increasing in one direction of the restoration and the color intensity/chroma decreasing in the same direction of the restoration. 7. The method in accordance with claim 6, wherein the fully sintered ceramic restoration displays a multiple color intensity effect with less color/chroma in an incisal area or an occlusal area and more color in a body area and a cervical area. 8. A method of coloring a pre-sintered dental restoration, the method comprising, in sequence, the steps of: a) securing a pre-sintered dental restoration having multiple different layers having a different chemical composition of color pigments between adjacent layers, and thenb) dipping the pre-sintered dental restoration into a coloring liquid, and thenc) sintering the pre-sintered dental restoration to acquire a fully sintered dental restoration with less color/chroma in an incisal or an occlusal area, and more color/chroma in a body area or a cervical area, of the fully sintered dental restoration. 9. The method in accordance with claim 8, wherein the coloring liquid comprises coloring ions. 10. The method in accordance with claim 8, wherein dipping the pre-sintered dental restoration comprises immersing the pre-sintered dental restoration into the coloring liquid. 11. The method in accordance with claim 8, wherein the sintering is clone with regular sintering in the presence of atmospheric air at a temperature of 1,3001,600° C. with no post HIP processing. 12. A method of coloring a pre-sintered dental restoration, the method comprising, in sequence, the steps of: a) securing a pre-sintered dental restoration having multiple different layers having i) a different chemical composition of color pigments between adjacent layers and ii) substantially consistent chroma level and translucency level between the multiple different layers before final sintering when measured with spectrophotometer for a sample of 1 mm thickness, and thenb) dipping the pre-sintered dental restoration into a coloring liquid, and thec) sintering the pre-sintered dental restoration to acquire a fully sintered dental restoration with less color/chroma in an incisal area or an occlusal area, and more color/chroma in a body area or a cervical area, of the fully sintered dental restoration. 13. The method in accordance with claim 12, wherein the coloring liquid comprises coloring ions. 14. The method in accordance with claim 12, wherein dipping the pre-sintered dental restoration comprises immersing the pre-sintered dental restoration into the coloring liquid.
