Methods and apparatus for providing data processing and control for use in a medical communication system are provided.
1. A method for data processing using one or more processors, comprising: obtaining a first filtered analyte level data for a monitored analyte level measured by an analyte sensor configured to be in contact with bodily fluid under a skin surface over a first period of time;obtaining a second filter
1. A method for data processing using one or more processors, comprising: obtaining a first filtered analyte level data for a monitored analyte level measured by an analyte sensor configured to be in contact with bodily fluid under a skin surface over a first period of time;obtaining a second filtered analyte level data for the monitored analyte level over a second period of time different from the first period;determining a rate of change based on the first period;weighting the first filtered analyte level data and the second filtered analyte level data according to the determined rate of change;processing the weighted first filtered analyte level data and the weighted second filtered analyte level data to determine the monitored analyte level;determining that the monitored analyte level is greater than a predetermined threshold; andproviding an alarm to a user based on the monitored analyte level. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the bodily fluid is interstitial fluid. 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first period is longer than the second period. 4. The method of claim 3, wherein the first period is approximately 15 minutes, and wherein the second period is approximately 2 minutes. 5. The method of claim 3, further comprising determining that the rate of change is lower than a rate of change variation, and wherein weighting the first filtered analyte level data and the second filtered analyte level data comprises assigning a relatively higher weight to the first filtered analyte level than the second filtered analyte level. 6. The method of claim 1, wherein the analyte sensor comprises a plurality of electrodes including a working electrode comprising an analyte-responsive enzyme bonded to a polymer disposed on the working electrode. 7. The method of claim 6, wherein the analyte-responsive enzyme is chemically bonded to the polymer. 8. The method of claim 6, wherein the working electrode further comprises a mediator. 9. The method of claim 1, wherein the analyte sensor comprises a plurality of electrodes including a working electrode comprising a mediator bonded to a polymer disposed on the working electrode. 10. The method of claim 9, wherein the mediator is chemically bonded to the polymer. 11. A device, comprising: one or more processors; anda memory storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:obtain a first filtered analyte level data for a monitored analyte level measured by an analyte sensor configured to be in contact with bodily fluid under a skin surface over a first period of time;obtain a second filtered analyte level data for the monitored analyte level over a second period of time different from the first period;determine a rate of change based on the first period;weight the first filtered analyte level data and the second filtered analyte level data according to the determined rate of change;process the weighted first filtered analyte level data and the weighted second filtered analyte level data to determine the monitored analyte level;determine that the monitored analyte level is greater than a predetermined threshold; andprovide an alarm to a user based on the monitored analyte level. 12. The device of claim 11, wherein the bodily fluid is interstitial fluid. 13. The device of claim 11, wherein the first period is longer than the second period. 14. The device of claim 13, wherein the first period is approximately 15 minutes, and wherein the second period is approximately 2 minutes. 15. The device of claim 13, the memory storing instructions to determine that the rate of change is lower than a rate of change variation, and to weight the first filtered analyte level data and the second filtered analyte level data by at least assigning a relatively higher weight to the first filtered analyte level than the second filtered analyte level. 16. The device of claim 11, wherein the analyte sensor comprises a plurality of electrodes including a working electrode comprising an analyte-responsive enzyme bonded to a polymer disposed on the working electrode. 17. The device of claim 16, wherein the analyte-responsive enzyme is chemically bonded to the polymer. 18. The device of claim 16, wherein the working electrode further comprises a mediator. 19. The device of claim 11, wherein the analyte sensor comprises a plurality of electrodes including a working electrode comprising a mediator bonded to a polymer disposed on the working electrode. 20. The device of claim 19, wherein the mediator is chemically bonded to the polymer.
