MoO?

For the purpose of enhancement of catalytic activity in olefin metathesis, the acid treatment technique of the silica support in WO?/SiO? and MoO?/SiO? catalysts was tried. Silica was treated with HCl-solution in different cond-itions (concentration, time and temperature) and after washing and drying it was followed the convertional dry impregnation procedure, and finally acid treated WO?/SiO? and MoO?/SiO? catalysts were prepared in the loading range of 5 to 15 wt%. For the catalyst surface characterization, N? adsorption at -195℃ and NG? adsorption at 165℃ were measured using a gas Volumetric Adsorption System and a Differential Scanning Calorimeter. Besides, for the determination of acid site, Infra-red Spectroscopic Studies were conducted as well as the catalyst activity measurement in propylene metathesis at 600℃, 2.1 atm using a Micro-Catalytic Reactor System. It was found that the propylene conversions in metathesis and the acidities of the catalysts used are linearly dependent and therefore correlated quite well. From the results from the B. E. T. areas, pore size distribution, acidity, and activity of olefin metathesis, it was able to conform that the actual active site for metathesis is the surface compound composed of distorted WO? or MoO? Octahedra, and not the Crystalline WO? or MoO? on the silica support. The optimal acid treatment conditions for the enhancement of propylene conversion in propylene metathesis were found as follows : firstly, ideal loading for the best dispersion of active site is around 1Owt% WO? or MoO?, and secondly the concentration of treatment solution should be highest in the test range of 2-8N HCl, lastly, to avoid the reverse effect, the treatment time and temperature should be lowered as low as possible in the test range 3-8 hr and 50-90℃ each.
