본 연구보고서는 전이금속의 새로운 화합을 합성과 반응성을 중심으로 발전시키기 위해 조직된 연구과제의 연구결과를 기술하고 있다. 연구과제는 전이금속-전이금속, 전이금속-탄소족원소, 전이금속-질소족원소, 전이금속-산소족원소간 결합을 포함하는 새로운 전이금속 화합물의 합성과 반응성을 각각 연구하는 네 세부과제로 되어있고 보고서도 네 세부과제의 연구결과를 다루고 있다.
제1세부과제에서는 제16족 주게 원소를 포함하는 다양한 리간드 즉 실라트란유도체, 티올레이트, 9S3 왕관티오에테르, 트리메타로스페이트등을 사용하여 새로운 class의 전이금속 착물을 합성하였을 뿐만 아니라 이핵체 화합물계의 연구를 위해 다아키볼라이드와 핵사키스-피라졸릴포스파젠도 도입하여 사용하였다. 다음과 같은 새로운 계의 화합물은 새롭게 합성되었고 단결정 X-선 회절 연구를 포함한 다양한 방법으로 확인되었다. : i)[Co?(CO)?{μ?-COSi(OCH?CH?)?N}]와 [(C??)Co?(CO)?{COSi(OCH?CH?)?N}]같은 실라트라닐옥시메틸리딘 코발트 뭉치화합물, ii)제 9족 전이원소와 실라트란 유도체간 헥사핲토 결합성을 갖는 화합물, 즉[(η?-Cp*)M(η?-C?H?)Sil]X?(M=Rh, Ir; Sil=Si(OCH?CH?)?N, OSi(OCH?CH?)?N;X=ClO?, CF?SO?)(Ln=La,Nd,Sm,Gd,Er,Yb),v) 이핵 티올레이트 인듐착물, 동종리간드형 In(III)의 티올레이트 착물, vi)[M(CO)?(9S3)](M=Co,Rh,Ir)와 [M(CO)(PPh?)(9S3)]{ClO?)(M=Rh,Ir)등을 포함하는 이종리간드형 9S3 착물, vii) [M(P?O?)?](sub)(n-)(M=Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn)형의 샌드위치화합물과 [M(CO)?(P?O?)]??(M=Mo,W)형의 이종리간드착물, Viii) 이합체 탈라카보레인과 M-Sn(M=Cr,Mo,W)결합을 갖는 이종이핵카보레인화합물을 비롯한 각종 메탈라카보레인, 그리고 i) 여러종류의 제1주기 전이금속원소의 이핵체 메탈로포스파젠.
알칼리딘화합물 (CO)?M=C(OMe)Tol (M=Cr,Mo,W,Tol=p-C?H?Me)을 BBr?3와 반응시킨 후 tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA)을 가하면 trans, cis-Br(CO)?(tmeda)M(CTol) [M=Cr(la), Mo(2a), W(3a)]와 cis, trans-Br(CO)?(tmeda)M(Ctol) [M=Cr(1b), Mo(2b), W(3b)]의 혼합물을 생성한다. 알킬리다인 화합물 Cp(CO)?Cr(CTol)(Cp=η?-C?H?)를 좋은 수율로 합성할 수 있는 새로운 합성법을 개발하였으며 이 화합물과 H?O(sub)(s3)(CO)??와의 반응을 시도하였다. CpMO(sub)(s3)(CO)??(μ?-CTol)[M=Mo(4), W(5)]를 Me?NO와 반응시켜 CO 리간드를 제거한 후 수소기체와 반응하면 수소화물 CpMO(sub)(s3)(CO)??(μ?-CTol)H? [M=Mo(6), W(7)]을 생성한다. 화합물 6과 7은 60개의 원자가 전자를 가진 나비(butterfly)형태의 금속 골격을 가진 화합물이다. 화합은 6과 7은 CO와 반응시켜 출발 물질인 알칼리디인 화합물 4와 5를 각각 생성한다. 화합물 6과 7을 열반응시켜 알킬리딘 화합물 CpMO(sub)(s3)(CO)?(μ-O)(μ-CHTol)H [M=Mo(8), W(9)]을 생선한다. 흥미롭게도 화합물 4만이 Me?NO와 반응시킨 후 가열하면 CpWO(sub)(s3)(CO)?(μ-O)(μ-CHTol) (10)을 생성하며 10은 수소와 반응하여 화합물 9를 생성한다. Cp(CO)?W(CTol)과 반응하여 62개의 원자가 전자를 가진 CpWO(sub)(s3)(CO)??(μ?-η?-C?Tol?) (μ?-CTol) (11)을 생성한다. 화합물 11에서 알카인 (alkyne)과 알킬리다인 리간드가 열적으로 짝지움(coupling)을 하여 알릴(allyl)화합물 CpWO(sub)(s3)(CO)??(μ?-η?-C?Tol?)(12)를 형성한다. 화합물 12에서 알릴리간드는 오스뮬 원자에 π-결합을 하고 있으며 열적 재배율을 하여 텅스템 원자에 π-결합한 화합물 13으로 이성화한다. 화합물 13을 다른 화합물로 이성화 하며 이에 대하여 연구중이다. 새로운 화합물 1-13을 분리 확인하였으며 화합물 la, 6, 9, 11, 12, 와 13은 X-선 단결정 구조연구로 그 구조들을 규명하였다.
비정상적으로 산화 상태가 낮거나 높은 후기 전이금속 이온의 질소 배위 거대고리 리간드 착물을 합성하고 이들의 특성, X-ray 구조 연구 및 반응에 대한 연구를 수행하였다.
1) 비정상적으로 산화 상태가 낮은 4-배위 nickel(I) 착물들을 여러가지 거대삼중고리 리간드로써 안정화시켜 합성하고 이들의 분광학적 특성 및 X-ray구조를 밝혔다.
2) acetamide 가 배위된 최초의 5-배위 nickel(I) 거대고리 착물을 합성하고 이의 분광학적 특성 및 X-ray 구조를 밝혔으며, 4배위 Nickel(I) 거대고리 착물과 acetamide간의 결합상수를 CH?CH 용액에서 측정하였다.
3) 한 분자안에 산화상태가 비정상적으로 낮은 두개의 금속이론을 포함하는 새로운 이핵 이중거대고리 Ni(I) 착물 및 Ni(II) 착물들을 합성하고 이들의 전기화학적 특성과 분광학적 특성을 연구하였다.
4) 4-배위 nickel(I) 거대고리 착물과 CH?I, H?O, 그리고 CO? 반응에 대해 반응생성물을 확인하고 반응 stoichiometry 를 연구하였다. 또한 CH?I, EtI, n-PrI 와의 반응에 대해 속도론적 연구를 수행하여 이 반응의 메카니즘 (Sn2)을 규명하였다.
5) 6-배위 낮은 스핀 Fe(III) cyclam 착물 [Fe(cyclam)(CH?CN?](ClO?)? 를 합성하고 이 착물을 산소와 반응시킴으로써 거대고리에 많은 이중 결합이 도입된 새로운 이핵 이중고리 6-배위 낮은 스핀 Fe(II) 착물을 합성하였다. 그리고 이들의 특성 및 X-ray 구조 연구를 수행하였으며 CO와의 반응 및 전기화학적 특성을 연구하였다.
6) 비정상적으로 높은 Ni(III) 상태를 안정화 시킬 수 있는 단일거대고리 Ni(II) 착물들을 template condenstion에 의해 새로이 합성하였으며 이를 산화시켜 여러가지 6-배위 low spin Ni(III) 거대고리 착물들을 합성하였다. 그리고 이들의 분광학적 특성 및 자기적 특성( esr, UV/vis spectrum, 및 magnetic susceptibility)을 연구하였다.
망간 아미드, 망간 인돌 화합물을 만들어 친핵체와의 반응을 연구하였다. 아미드 화합물과 친핵체의 반응의 경우 electronic effect 보다는 steric steric effect 가 반응 site 를 결정하는 데 중요한 역할을 하였다.
이돌 화합물의 경우 C-4, C-7위치가 활성화되어 친핵체로부터 공격을 받았으며, 친핵체와 치환체의 steric effect가 크게 작용하였다. 인돌 화합물의 경우 두 가지 화합물에 대한 단결정을 만들어 구조를 결정하였다. 망간페닐실라트란 화합물의 경우 용매와 conformation의 regioselectivity는 치환되기 전의 화합물의 경우와 유사했다. [(Cyclohexadienyl silatrane)Mn(CO)?NO]? 화합물의 경우 H?, PR?, P(OMe)?,?CH(CO?R)?, ?CH?CO?R (R = Pr, Bu)등과 반응하였다. Hydride를 반응시켰을 경우 hydride 가 cyclohexadienyl 고리의 ipso 위치가 다른 위치를 공격하여, 두??어졌으며, P(OMe)? 를 반응시켰을 경우 P(O)(OMe)?가 첨가된 화합물이 얻어지는데, 이는 먼저 P(OMe)?가 첨가된 이후, 과량의 P(OMe)?에 demethylation되어 생성물을 만들게 된다. 한편, ?CH?CO?R (R = Pr, Bu)를 반응시켰을 경우 처음에는 금속의 카르보닐을 공격한 화합물이 얻어지지만 시간이 지남에 따라 C(O)CH?CO?R기는 금속에는 배위 고리로 이동하면서 demetallation 이 일어난다. 따라서 반응 후에는 trans disubstituted cyclohexadiene silatrane 화합물이 얻어지는데 이러한 반응에 대한 연구는 제대로 연구된 적이 없어서 이 연구는 중요한 가치를 가진다.
텅스텐페닐실라트란 화합물에 대한 연구를 하였다. 실라트란 이외의 치환체가 파라에 있는 경우 반응성이 극도가 나빠져 친전자성, 친핵성, 라디칼 반응 등 거의 모든 반응 조건에서 반응이 진행되지 않았다. [4-Bu(sup)(t)-C?H?Si(OCH?CH?)?N})W(CO)?화합물의 단결정을 얻어 구조를 결정하였다. 시클로헥사디에닐 화합물의 연구로 (C?H?)Mn(CO)??에 NaCp를 반응 시킨 후 deprotonation하면 음이온이 생성되고 이 음이온은 여러 종류의 유기금속과 반응하게 되어 한 화합물에 여러 개의, 여러 종류의 금속이 함께 배위된 화합물을 만들수 있었다. 이 방법은 쉽게 만들 수 있는 유리 리간드를 이용하여 bi-, poly-metallic 화합물을 만들 수 있는 방법이 된다. 만든 화합물 중에서 두 가지 화합물의 경우 단결정이 만들어져 구조 결정을 하였다.
시클로펜타디에닐 화합물은 유기금속 화학에서는 매우 중요한 리간드인데 Pauson-Khand의 반응을 이용하여 cyclopentenone 화합물을 만들고 이 화합물로 부터 cyclopentadienyl 화합물을 만드는 방법을 개발하였다. 이 방법을 이용하여 매우 다양한 cyclopentadienyl complex 를 만들 수 있었다. 이 방법으로 새로 만들어진 두 가지 화합물의 단결정을 얻어 구조를 밝혔다.

This research report deals with the detailed accounts of the results of the research project which has been organized to develop the synthesis and reactivity aspects of novel chemistry of transition metal compounds and consists of four sub-research reports on synthesis and reactivity properties of novel trnasition metla complexes containing bonding interactions between transition metal and X (X=transition metals, Group 14,15, and 16 elements).
In the first sub-project various types of ligands containg Group 16 ligation atoms such as silatranyl derivatives, thiolates, 9S3 crown thiether, trimetaphosphate were employed to derive new classes of transition metal complexes. In addition, the dicarbollide anion and hexakis-pyrazolyphosphazene were also used to exploit dinuclear complex systems. The types of new compounds which were newly synthesized and characterized by various means including single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies are followings:
i)silatranyloxymethylidyne cobalt clusters such as [Co?(CO)?{μ?-COSi(OCH?CH?)?N}]and [(C??)Co?(CO)?{COSi(OCH?CH?)?N}], ii) Group 9 derivatives of 1-phenyl- and 1-phenoxysilatrane such as (η?-Cp*)M(η?-C?H?)Sil]X?(M=Rh,Ir; Sil=Si(OCH?CH?)?N, OSi(OCH?CH?)?N;X=ClO?, CF?SO?), iii) wide range of 1-hydroxysilatrane derivatives iv) [TSA·Ln·(CF?SO?)?(CF?SO?)(Ln=La,Nd,Sm,Gd,Er,Yb), v) dimeric thiolatoinda-carborane and homoleptic 2,6-dimethylphenylthiolate complex of In(III), vi) heteroleptic 9S3 complexes including [M(CO)?(9S3)](ClO?)?(M=Co,Rh,Ir) and [M(CO)(PPh?)(9S3)]{ClO?) (M=Rh,Ir) vii)Sandwich type [M(P?O?)?](sub)(n-)(M=Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn) and heteroleptic complexes [(CO)?M(P?O?)]??(M=Mo,W), viii) wide rnage of metallacarboranes including dimeric thallacarborane and heterodinuclear carborane complexes with M-Sn(M=Cr,Mo,W) both, and ix) several dinuclear metallophosphazenes of the first row trnasition elements.
The reaction of (CO)?M=C(OMe)Tol (M=Cr,Mo,W and Tol=p-C?H?Me) and BBr? followed by treatment with tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) yields a mixture of two diasteromers, trans, cis-Br(CO)?(tmeda)M(CTol) [M=Cr(la), Mo(2a), W(3a)] and cis, trans-Br(CO)?(tmeda)M(Ctol) [M=Cr(1b), Mo(2b), W(3b)]. An improved method for the preparation of Cp(CO)?Cr(CTol)(Cp=η?-C?H?) has been developed. The reactio of H?O(sub)(s3)(CO)?? and Cp(CO)?Cr(CTol) has been attempted. Initial decarbonylation of CpMO(sub)(s3)(CO)??(μ?-CTol)[M=Mo(4), W(5)]withMe?NO/MeCN and subsequent reaction with dihydrogen produces the respective dihydrodo complexes CpMO(sub)(s3)(CO)??(μ?-CTol)H?[M=Mo(6), W(7)], a butterfly cluster with 60 valence electrons (VE). Complexes 6 and 7 react with carbon monoxide to give the starting alkylidyne complexes 4 and 5, respectively. Thermolysis 6 and 7 under dihydrogen gives CpMO(sub)(s3)(CO)?(μ-O)(μ-CHTol)H [M=Mo(8), W(9)]. Interestingly, only the tungsten analogue 5 is converted to an oxo-alkylidyne complex 9 upon reaction with dihydrogen. The raction of O(sub)(s3)(CO)?(C?Tol?) with Cp(CO)? W(CTol) affords CpWO(sub)(s3)(CO)??(μ?-η?-C?Tol?) (μ?-CTol) (11), a spiked triangular arrangement of metal atoms with 62 VE. Complex 11 undergoes thermla coupling of alkyne and alkylidyne ligands to afford an allyl complex CpWO(sub)(s3)(CO)??(μ?-η?-C?Tol?)(12). The allyl ligand in 12 undergoes thermal rearrangement to give an isomeric complex 13 in which the allyl ligand is π-coordinated to the tungsten atom. Complex 13 is further converted to isomeric complexes. New compounds 1-13 have been isolated as crystalline soilds and characterized by spectroscopic (infrared, mass ?H and ??C NMR) data. Molecular structures of la, 6, 9, 11, 12, and 13 have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies.
Studies on the complexes of azamacrocylic ligands, which contain unusually low or high oxidation state of metal ions, have been carried out.
1) 4-coordinate nicke(I) complexes have been synthesized, and their sepctroscopic properties and the X-ray structures were examined.
2) The first 5-coordinate nicke(I) complex coordinating acetamide has been also synthesized and their spectroscopic and electrochemical properties were investigated.
3) The dinuclear and bismacrocyclic Ni(II) and Ni(I) complexes have been synthesized and their spectroscopic and electrochemical properties were investigated.
4) The reactions between 4-coordinate nicke(I) complexes and CH?I, H?O, and CO? have been studied. The reaction products were identified and the reaction stoichiometries were determined. The mechanism of the reaction between 4-coordinate nicke(I) complex and alkyl halides (CH?I, EtI, n-PrI, and i-PrI) was determined by the kinetic measurements.
5) The 6-coordinate low spin Fe(III) cyclam complex has been synthesized by the aerobic oxidation of Fe(II) complex. Novel dinuclear and bismacrocyclic complex was obtained by the aerobic oxidation dehydrogenation reaction of the Fe(III) complex. The complex contains two 6-coordinate low spin Fe(II) ions and the bismacrocyclic ligand in which double bonds are extensively introduced. The spectroscopic and electrochemical properties, and the reaction with CO were investigated, and the X-ray structure was determined.
6) The Ni(II) complexes with macromonocyclic ligands, which can stabilize the unusually high oxidation state of Ni(II), have been prepared. The 6-coordinate low spin Ni(III) complexes have been synthesized by the chemical oxidation of the Ni(II) complexes followed by the addition of extra anionic ligands. The characteristic spectroscopic and magnetic properties have been investigated.
The reaction of amide- and indole- manganese complexes with nucleophiles have been studied.
For the amide complexes, the site of nucleophilic attacke is largely controlled by the size of nucleophiles. For the indole complexes, the C4 and C7 positions have been activated and attacked by the nucleophiles. The site of nucleophilic attack is largely controlled by the sizes of nucleophilies and substiuents. Crystals of two indole complexes were grown and characterized by X-ray. For the nucleophilic addition to silatraylarene manganese complexes, the regioselectivity is controlled by the reaction medium and conformation of Mn(CO)??. The overall trends of nucleophilic addition to [(phenylsilatrane)Mn(CO)?P(OMe)?]? are similar to those of [(phenylsilatrane)Mn(CO)?]?. [(Cyclohexadienyl silatrane)Mn(CO)?NO]?(A) reacts with H?, PR?, P(OMe)?,?CH(CO?R)?, and ?CH?CO?R. Addition of hydride to A gave two kinds of products. Addition of PR? to A yielded the phosphine substituted complexes. When a large excess of P(OMe)? was used to react with A, P(OMe)? attacked the dienyl ring of A to give a phosphonium adduct, which underwent Arbuzov reaction to lead the P(O)(OMe)?-added product. Addition of ?CH?CO?R to A yielded the metal-attacked complex, which rearranged to the diene complex, possessing endo substituent. The diene complex afforded the trans-disubstituted cyclohexadiene derivative of silatrane, [{Bu(sup)(t)-C?H?Si(OCH?CH?)?N})W(CO)?] has been obtained from the reaction of Bu(sup)(t)-C?H?Si(OCH?CH?)?N with W(CO)?. The molecular structure has ben determined. This compound does not undergo any kinds of reactions.
Tricarbonyl(exo-cyclopentadienyl-cyclohexadienyl)manganess (B) has been prepared by the reaction of (C?H?)Mn(CO)?? with NaCp. B reacts with BuLi to produce a lithiated compound C, which reacts with several kinds of organometallic reagents to yield the corresponding organometallic compounds. Exploring the use of B or C as a π coordinatng ligand is a synthetically valuable procedure. Crystals of two compounds were grown and characterized by X-ray.
We have developed the general method how to prepare cyclopentadienyl ligand from cyolopentenone (the Pauson-Khand reaction product), synthesized several new cyclopentadienyl complexes, and solved the molecular structures of two of the new cyclopentadienyl compounds.
