초미세구조공정(ultrastructure processing)인 Sol-Gel법으로 다양한 기능을 갖는 유기물을 무기물의 망목구조에 도입시켜 다기능을 갖는 광학재료를 만드는 것이 연구의 목적이다.
본 연구에서는 Si$O_2$에 PEG를 도입하여 bulk나 film 형태의 hybrid를 공정변수를 조절하여 무기-유기 hybrid를 제조하였다. 제조된 hybrid의 구조는 IR과 Raman 분광법으로 규명하고 미세구조는 SEM, TEM, BET등을 써서 측정한다. 또한 hybrid의 광학적, 기계적, 열적특성도

The object of this research is to manufacture multi-functional optical materials by introducing organic compounds with various specific functions into the inorganic network by use of the ultrastructure Sol-Gel method.
In this research, we introduced PEG into Si$O_2$ network and manrfacture bulk and (or) film type inorganic-organic hybrids by controlling the above-mentioned process variables. The structure of the hybrids investigated by IR and Raman spectroscopy and the microstructure by SEM, TEM and BET. Also the optical, mechanical, and thermal characteristics of the hybrids evaluated. The next-step is manufacture of organic dye-doped ORMOSIL by introducing organic-inorganic into ORMOSIL. We attempted surface modification in order to prevent agglomeration of the organic dyes and investigated the interaction mechanism between the dopant and host matrices.. The photo-stability of the manufactured inorganic-organic nanocomposites evaluated, too.
