This study was to investigate near-infrared spectroscopy(NIR) application for determination of components in winter cereal and forage crop. In whole flour barley, main components are protein,
-glucan and starch. In forage crop, main components are crude protein, NDF(Neutral detergent fiber), ADF(Acid detergent fiber) and TDN(Total digestible nutrients). In wheat, main components are protein, moisture, SDS-sedimentation volume and ash. When measure individual component's contents in winter crop, we use NIR application in order to development of breeding system for forage crop, barley and wheat. NIR machine was used as a rapid and simultaneous analysis method to determine the interesting components. To developed from a multi-cereal calibration set, breeding lines and cultivars were measured in scanning with NIR, and analysed with laboratory method.
In barley, calibration equation for individual components contents were developed using modified partial least-squares regression with internal cross validation(n=220-250). The equation for protein and -glucan had lower RMSECV(Root mean square error of cross-validation), higher
(coefficient of determination in calibration) than starch. Prediction of an external validation set(n=88) showed significant correlation between reference value and NIR estimated value based on the standard error of prediction(SEP),
, and RMSECV, the ratio of standard deviation (SDR) of reference data to SEP. The model for protein,
-glucan and starch had higher value of RSP (the ratio of SD of reference data to SEP(C) in the external validation set and
, thereby that calibration equation has good quantitative accuracy. In forage crop, calibration equation of individual components contents were developed using first derivation, second derivation and modified partial least-squares regression with internal cross validation(n=369). Calibration of individual components contents showed lower RMSECV(crude protein : 0.285, NDF : 1.29, ADF : 0.716, TDN : 0.565), higher
(crude protein : 0.9655, NDF : 0.8688, ADF : 0.9174, TDN : 0.9174). In wheat crop, calibration equation of individual components contents were developed using first derivation, second derivation and modified partial least-squares regression with internal cross validation(n=384). Calibration of protein and moisture contents showed lower RMSECV(protein : 0.874, moisture : 0.324, SDS : 6.55, ash : 0.0321), higher
(protein : 0.9317, moisture : 0.9214, SDS : 0.8082, ash : 0.7024). Calibration of SDS and ash contents showed lower accuracy.
Therefore, that calibration equation has good quantitative accuracy. These results indicated that NIR could be used to rapidly determine the contents of components in winter cereal and forage crop in the breeding programs for development of high-quality new cultivars.
