□ Although ultra high performance computing resources are being expanded and its availability is being accelerated for the past decade, Korea is lacking on both aspects of resource securement and availability.

□ Although ultra high performance computing resources are being expanded and its availability is being accelerated for the past decade, Korea is lacking on both aspects of resource securement and availability.
○ USA, Japan and China are already prepared for application base by possessing number of ultra high performance computing, and competition for technological advancement is being accelerated.
○ However, Korea has only 4 units and its application base and professional base are vulnerable.
□ Therefore, to promote ultra performance computing at the national level, and vitalize its application, the government has enacted "National Ultra High Performance Computing Application and Promotion Acts" in 2011.
