1. 검진학생의 숫자는 114,177명(남자 59,396명, 여자 54,781명)이었다. 척추측만증의 유병율(10도이상)은 1.17%이었고, 남녀 유병률은 남자가 0.44%여자가 1.96%이었다
2. 척추측만증의 유병율은 측만각이 5도이상 1.89%, 10도이상이 1.17%이었다. 20도~29도가 0.22%, 30도~39도가 0.06%, 40도이상이 0.02% 이었다.

5. Risser 단계와 평균 연령과 관계는 Rosser 0단계는 남자 13.6세, 여자 13.2세, Risser 1단계는 남자 13.7세, 여자 13.7세, Risser 2단계는 남자 13.9세, 여자 13.7세, Risser 3단계는 남자 14.4세, 여자 14.0세, Risser 4단계는 남자 14.5세, 여자 14.2세, Risser 5단계는 남자 14.5세, 여자 14.6세이었다.

This project is performed to survey the prevalence of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and to develope a model for regular checking of spinal deformity in elementary-middle-high school students.
A survey of 114,177 elementary-middle-high students in Seoul city was carried out in a random sample manner to determine the prevalence of adolescnet idiopathic scoliosis. There were 59,396 boys and 54,781 girls. Elementary school students are composed of 19,276, middle school students, 62,676 and hight school students is 32,274. Their age ranged from 12 to 19 years. Adams forward bending test and Scoliometer(Orthopaedic Systems, Inc, USA) were used to detect and measure the degree of rotation of trunk. Using 10 degrees as cut-off points, 465 students were found to have structural scoliosis, representing a prevalence of 0.9%. The prevalence in girls(1.6%) was significantly higher than in boys(0.04%). The prevalence of curves of 5 to 9 degrees was 0.65%, curves of 10 to 19 degrees was 0.75%, curves of 20 to 29 degrees was 0.17%, curves of 30 degrees more was 0.02%.
One hundred sixty four students(35.3%) had a double curve,124(26.7%) had a thoracic curve, 195(15.3%) had a thoracolumbar curve, 98(21.1%) had a lumbar curve, and 8 had a double thoracic curve.
As to model for regular checking program for spinal deformity of students, school screening can be done with low cost using 3 teams. First team is to check the gross morphology of spine being examined by educated nurse for school screening. Second team is radiology team. Radiology team take the radiogram of students who are screened by nurse, then third tema composed of orthopaedic doctor interpretate the results of radiogram then report the results of radiogram containing the plan for treaments. The cost for school screening test is 800Won per students.
