전국에서 재배되고 있는 기능성 작물을 대상으로 병 발생상황을 조사하였다. 산수유 등 많은 작물에서 역병 등 다양한 병이 발생하고 있었으며, 대부분의 병은 국내에서 처음으로 기록되는 병이었다. 비타민나무 탄저병균 등 다양한 병원진균을 동정하였으며, 8개 작물 13개 진균병 검색매뉴얼을 작성하였다. 세균병에 있어서는 가시오갈피등 26개 작물에서 39개의 세균병 발생을 확인하였으며, 30개의 국내 기주미기록 세균병을 확인하였다. 또한 고수세균마름병 등 15개의 세균병 검색매뉴얼을 작성하였다. 바이러스병에 있어서는

Recently, studies of several functional ingredients and the development of new drugs using the functional plants have been proceeding, and the value of functional plants has emerged as trends in farm incomes and the increase in production. However, a number of researches on the characteristics of the soil- and air-borne disease, identification of pathogens to occur in these crops, and development of control have been performed. Manuals for the development of systematic research of disease diagnosis and management of the crops cultivation are inadequate in Korea. Therefore, we investigated the diseases occurring in the fields as well as in the nursery fields cultivated functional crops. Various bacterial and fungal disease including bacterial leaf spot, crown gall, anthracnose, root rot, powdery mildew, leaf blight, and wilt were occurred in many crops such as yacon, wilfordiroot, buckthorn sea, and cherry. Bacterial and fungal pathogens were identified based on morphological, cultural and biochemical characteristics, and gene sequences. The pathogenicity tests were carried out on the each host plants. Thirty bacterial diseases newly found from many functional crops. In this study, we made the fifteen bacterial and thirteen fungal disease search manual. Occurrence of viral diseases in functional crops has not been studied yet in Korea. In this study, we have examined occurrence of viral diseases in several important functional crops and developed diagnostic methods to detect the viral diseases. The complete genome sequence of a new virus isolated from a motherwort plant exhibiting yellow mottle, mild mosaic, and stunting symptoms in Andong, Korea, was determined. Phylogenetic analyses provided further evidence that the virus identified in this study is probably a new species of the genus Torradovirus. The name“motherwort yellow mottle virus” (MYMoV) is proposed for this new virus. We also identified Bean common mosaic virus from Cudrania tricuspidata. The complete genome sequence of a previously undescribed virus isolated from a yacon plant exhibiting necrotic mottle, chlorosis, stunting, and leaf malformation symptoms in Gyeongju, Korea, was determined. Phylogenetic analyses provided further evidence that the virus identified in this study is probably a new species of the genus Badnavirus. The name yacon necrotic mottle virus (YNMoV) is proposed for this new virus. Carnation Italian ringspot virus was identified from Chrysanthemum zawadskii var. latilobum in this study. Rapid detection and diagnosis of plant virus infection is one of the most important steps in preventing damages caused by viral diseases. Bromoviruses and cucumoviruses belong to the family Bromoviridae, which is one of the most important families of plant viruses, and infect a broad range of host plants including various economically important crops. In this study, an RT-PCR assay was developed for the universal detection of bromoviruses and cucumoviruses using a set of primers designed to target the conserved sequences in viral RNA1. The assay detected three species of Cucumovirus (Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), Peanut stunt virus (PSV) and Tomato aspermy virus (TAV)) and two species of Bromovirus (Brome mosaic virus (BMV) and Cowpea chlorotic mottle virus (CCMV)) with high specificity and sensitivity. The assay developed in this study is predicted to have the potential to detect all major members of the genera Bromovirus and Cucumovirus and to be used as a routine diagnostic assay.
