○ 본 과제는 공동주택의 에너지 절감에 효과적인 외단열 공법의 활성화에 기여하기 위해 골조공사와 함께 외단열 공사를 동시에 수행할 수 있도록 “적층시공 가설시스템”, “공정간소형 외단열시공기술” 및 “적층공법 최적공정관리기술”을 통해 ‘공동주택용 외단열 적층시공 공법’을 개발함

▪ The ultimate objective of the project is commercialization of verified technology developed and proposed throughout the work, wherein structural framework and exterior insulation finishing work are simultaneously conducted, in order to reduce total construction time and 10% of the total construction cost for external insulation of apartment building. The technology is called,
“Concurrent Construction Method of External Insulation Finishing System(EIFS)”, and its specific objectives are as follows.
[System] Temporary System for Concurrent Construction of EIFS
- 30% reduction of construction cost, compared with the existing construction system.
[Method] Construction method with simplified process
- 25% reduction of construction process, compared with the existing method.
[Management] Optimized process management of the method
- Intervention from the existing process minimized.
▪ The contents and scope for achieving the objective of this project are as follows.
[Temporary System for Concurrent Construction of EIFS]
- For the simultaneous construction of the exterior insulation finishing work and structural framework, the temporary system developed in this project is integrated with the external wall formwork system. Below are major components of the system.
□ Lifting rail system
□ 5-level working platforms
□ Debris-preventive platform system
[Simplified Construction Method of EIFS]
- To optimize the construction processes of concurrent construction method of EIFS, thermal insulation layer is integrated and unitized in order to simplify the processes of external insulation finishing work. Main methods are as follows.
□ Thermal insulator construction layer integration system
□ Framework-insulator integration method
□ Heat bridge-preventive insulator integration material
[Optimized management of Concurrent Construction Method of EIFS]
- The optimized management of the outside insulation accumulative construction prevents the intervention of other processes which are simultaneously conducted, and maintains the optimal efficiency of the method. Below are major specific methods for inducing the optimized process and performance of the construction method.
□ Optimization of concurrent construction of EIFS (Linkage between processes/lifting plan)
□ Optimized quality of concurrent construction of EIFS (Opening portion and top portion)
□ Analysis of workability and economic feasibility of concurrent construction of EIFS

Expected Contribution
▪ Reduction in process and enhancement of thermal insulation of apartment building construction
- Construction periods for follow-up processes secured by the reduced construction period.
- Follow-up process (Insulation, window, caulking, and painting) assisted by system form, thereby contributing to the reduction of construction period.
- Reduction of building’s thermal storage, when applying the exterior insulation process, as well as frost-prevention through the securement of thermal performance, and reduced heat bridge.
▪ Competitiveness of domestic construction methods secured, through the energy-reducing research and development
- By suggesting a profound result of the sustainable construction method, the basis for the research and development of energy-saving construction methods can be constructed.
- Achievement of apartment building’s energy reduction, which corresponds to the zero-energy consumption plan of newly constructed buildings (e.g. Green Growth), and enhancement of international competitiveness.
- Price-competitiveness secured, as well as the productivity of the outside insulation construction enhanced through the simplified process and cost-effective system, thereby improving the international competitiveness of the domestic construction technology.

- Enhanced quality of life of apartment building dwellers, as well as the achievement of zero-energy building construction, by the improved insulation performance and energy reduction in building.
- By developing a new construction plan which reflects the demand for safety, a leading technology for the external insulation construction method can be secured.
▪ Creation of new construction industry through expansion and further integration of the exterior insulation construction method with other processes
- The basic concept of concurrent construction method of EIFS is to perform the structural framework and finishing work simultaneously in a single temporary system. In the future, this is expected to be applied and integrated to other finishing works on the exterior wall (window, or painting).
