Ⅱ. Objectives and Necessity of the Project
Consolidating the foundation to support radiation medicine information for R&D, interdisciplinary convergence, market promotion, policy making as well as, ultimately, to accomplish policy development in order to resolve social issues, create high value-added research, advance researches and bear fruitful results.
Ⅲ. Contents and Results of the Project
[Radiation Medicine Information Management]
1. Operation of Radiation Medicine Data Collecting and Analysing System
○ Establishment and Operation of Cooperation System for Data Collecting
Organized the Cooperation Network among correlated institutions especially centering around academic associations relating to collecting Radiation Medicine information so as to give proper suggestions in decision making about policies regarding Radiation Medicine researches
○ Development of Radiation Medicine Database for National Approval
Analyzed the difficulties and problems to prepare improvements when going through
enactment of radiation medicine stats, and also reviewed measures to disseminate and distribute radiation medicine related information throughout the portal sites and online publications
2. Development of Radiation Medicine Database Contents and Data Analysis
○ Development of Contents for Establishment of Radiation Medicine Database
Development of the plan to organize expert network regarding developing Radiation Medicine Information Service Strategies and its system
○ Analysis of Clinical trials in Radiation Medicine using HIRA’s BigData
To suggest methods for utilizing the BigData of the health and medical treatment and establish a reliable Database System regarding clinical trials in radiation medicine, carried out analyzing the current status relating to radiation therapy and nuclear medicine tests using HIRA(Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service)’s Data from 2011 to 2015
3. Establishment and Operation of Webzine and its system
○ Periodical Publication of Webzine
Radiation Medicine Webzine is a monthly webzine, firstly issued on January 7, 2015. The webzine contains radiation medicine related research trends, global research trends, policies trends, event information, interviews and columns.
Radiation Medicine Webzine Manager manages and posts information through Manager website
○ Reinforcement of Supplementary contents and expert exchanges 46 webzine editors were appointed to enhance professionalism and several workshops and a contest such as editors workshops(April/November), Expert Seminars(March/October), Radiation Medicine Webzine Contest were held to add new contents and attract readers’ attentions and interest. Also, organized award ceremony for outstanding researchers to encourage experts and their mutual exchange of opinions
[Radiation Medicine Future Strategy Research]
1. Analysis of Paper, Patent, Market Trends
○ Analysis of each country’s trend in Radiation Medicine Papers
Analyzed the papers of Korea and 10 ASEAN countries published in the field of radiation oncology to use as the primary data source for awarding the “Korea-ASEAN Cooperation Project” and the papers of top 10 advanced countries published in the field of radiation oncology and radiation medicine to support the 2ndKorea-US Civil Space Dialogue
○ Analysis relating to Medical Radiation
Carried out pre-investigation for planning a new project relating to medical radiation and QA(Quality Assurance) and analyzed the related papers and the status of PSDL(Primary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory) in individual countries, the structure of IAEA/WHO SSDL(Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory) network and also the structure of ACDS(Australian Clinical Dosimetry Service) which is subsidiary organization of ARPANSA(Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency) in Australia
○ Market trend analysis in Radiation Medicine
Analyzed the current status of Radiation Medicine and Radiotherapy market trends using the prominent journals and market reports to support the policy development and related research studies
○ Analysis of Clinical Trials using promising Radioisotope
Sn-117m is the radioisotope developed in 1970’s with relatively long 14 days of a half period which makes it the promising source for medical purposes. Therefore analyzed the research papers and patents relating to the clinical trials of Sn-117s to figure out the current research status and progress of it
○ Analysis of Radiation Medicine Institutions in Japan
The overall governance of countries like US, Japan with the advanced national system in Radiation Medicine is meaningful to Korea. Therefore, analyzed the NIRS of Japan which has been amalgamated into the QST(National Institute for Quantum and Radiological Science and Technology) in April 2016 to present the implications in terms of establishment background, organization structure, mission, etc.
