A. Establishing a Network of Nuclear Education Teachers
- Onsite teachers and nuclear experts’ conference: Discussion on current status of onsite education, need-based research and direction of future education
- Three meetings of advisory discussions on development of a nuclear education package: Feb 15, March 29, April 6/ Development of teaching plan, syllabus time, educational methods and target and other details
- Establishment of a teacher network with focus on onsite education: comprised of six teachers (five middle school teachers, one university professor)
B. Education Package Development Cooperation

C. Teachers Education

- Target audience of nuclear education teachers: A total 28 middle to high school Science & Technology teachers
- Programs consist of understanding nuclear science, nuclear science in everyday life, onsite facility field trips and experience programs
- Lectures that apply the developed material, review of the contents and feedback received
- Education evaluation: Evaluation of lecture contents and lecturer performance, and evaluation of improvement in awareness levels before and after the lecture
. A high score of 4.68 points received for the overall educational curriculum
. All assessed areas in the nuclear awareness evaluation scored positive increase from 3.50 to 3.89 points (up by 0.39 point)
○ Developing an education package to improve the youth’s nuclear understanding
A. Educational Curriculum
- Assessment of the Current Status via In-School Teachers: Need for awareness of nuclear power and radiation exists, but the current contents in the official curriculum are limited in scope. There is a demand for development of a 45 minute long module type program that takes into the consideration the current opportunities like the application of free semester system in middle school. This newly developed content can be applied as Module 2.
- Module development: Planned two modules with radiation as theme
- Subject Name: “Radiation Seen via Our Eyes”, “Drawing the Radiation Map of Our School”
- Class Method:
. Radiation Seen via Our Eyes: Applies a circulation mock-up experiment type lecture
. Drawing Our School Map: Adopts an exhibition type lecture

- Participants: 50 delegates including nuclear science professionals and experts from industry, academia and research
- Theme: Role of nuclear science and tasks to meet future challenges in accordance with changes in the energy policy
