○ 상온 단시간 무촉매 방사선화학반응을 이용한 고효율 고내구성 전기탈염소재 제조 기술 개발
- 본 과제에서는 1) 탄소전극의 효율(정전용량) 향상을 위해 전기전도도가 향상된 고분산성 탄소나노 소재, 전기화학반응 유효면적 극대화에 필요한 신규 방사선 가교 가능 친수성 바인더 개발 및 물에 대한 치수안정성 확보를 위한 전자선 가교 연구를 수행하여 가교구조의 친수성 탄소전극(겔화율 100%, 물접촉각 0° 및 전기 전도도 1.0 S/cm)을 제조하였고, 2) 이온성고분자 멤브레인의 이온흡탈착속도 향상 및 수화안정성 확보를

- 본 과제에서는 1) 탄소전극의 효율(정전용량) 향상을 위해 전기전도도가 향상된 고분산성 탄소나노 소재, 전기화학반응 유효면적 극대화에 필요한 신규 방사선 가교 가능 친수성 바인더 개발 및 물에 대한 치수안정성 확보를 위한 전자선 가교 연구를 수행하여 가교구조의 친수성 탄소전극(겔화율 100%, 물접촉각 0° 및 전기 전도도 1.0 S/cm)을 제조하였고, 2) 이온성고분자 멤브레인의 이온흡탈착속도 향상 및 수화안정성 확보를 위해 저렴한 가격의 상용화된 100 mol%의 이온교환관능기를 갖는 이온성고분자와 친수성 고분자 가교제 혼합물 개발 및 전자선 가교 연구를 통해 높은 이온교환용량(1.7 meq/g)과 수화안정성(겔화율 100% 및 함수율 30%)을 가진 가교구조의 이온성고분자 멤브레인(막저항 1.2 Ω·cm2)을 제조하였으며, 3) 탈염효율과 내구성이 확보된 일체형 멤브레인-전극 개발을 위해 확보된 친수성 탄소전극용 슬러리와 이온성고분자 혼합물의 순차적 적층 및 전자선 가교반응을 통해 가교구조의 이온성고분자 멤브레인-탄소전극 복합체를 제조하였음.
- 제조된 양이온성 및 음이온성 고분자 멤브레인-탄소전극 복합체의 정전용량 측정결과, 제조된 상용탄소전극 대비 72% 향상된 140 F/g의 정전용량(목표치:≧120 F/g)을 보였고 염수(250 ppm NaCl, 80 °C) 조건에서 실시한 수화안정성 평가 결과에서도 치수 변화 없이 100% 유지됨을 확인 하였음.
- 제조된 이온성고분자 멤브레인-탄소전극 복합체를 적용한 상용규격의 전기탈염 기초모듈을 제작하여 10 및 20 mL/min의 유속에서 성능을 평가한 결과, 각각 95%와 92%의 탈염효율(목표치: ≧ 90%)을 보여 전기탈염장치의 고효율 고내구성 전극소재로 활용 가능성을 검증하였음.

- Development of crosslinked hydrophilic carbon electrode with high dimensional stability by electron beam crosslinking using new hydrophilic polymer binder

Expected Contribution
○ Radiation with high penetration depth and energy, can be applied to the development of capacitive deionization materials with high durability and efficiency. Since radiation technology can overcome the limit of the performance of the current capacitive deionization materials, it is considered to be used for the development of the related industries.
○ The developed technologies of radiation crosslinking of ionic polymer and electrode active materials can be used not only for the core materials of capacitive deionization application, but also for a number of the core materials of super capacitor, fuel cell, secondary battery, and solar cell. In addition, since it can be utilized for material separation, toxic chemical absorbent, and chemical reaction catalyst, it can be utilized as preliminary data for the new research, and for the improvement of related technology and the industrialization of radiation technology.
