□ Purpose & Contents
The entire project aims to make fundamental studies for the development of advanced reduced activation ferritic/martensitic (RAFM) steels and the optimal welding technology suitable to them for a fusion reactor blanket. Since the blanket is exposed to high flux of neutron and complex periods of fluctuating mechanical and thermal stresses, the evaluation of high-temperature degradation behaviors of the RAFM steels under service environment (550~600℃, 50MPa) should be carried out for developing more reliable components. Therefore, the present project aimed to focus on the evaluation of high-temperature mechanical properties (tensile, creep and low cycle fatigue) of newly developed RAFM steels, and understanding of degradation behaviors.
□ Results
The essential design of new RAFM steels involves the replacement of Mo in conventional Mod. 9Cr-1Mo steel by W and/or V. Nb should be replaced by Ta. This new RAFM steels are expected to experience stress/irradiation-induced non-equilibrium phases as well as coarsening of precipitates because of its high contents of Cr, W, V, Ta, which can affect properties. Expecially, a high content of W may accelerate the degradation by increasing brittle Laves fraction. Furthermore, there may be a high possibility to form the brittle phases such as Z by undesirable transformation of initial metastable precipitates. Therefore, the evaluation of high-temperature mechanical properties of RAFM steels, and understanding of degradation behaviors should be needed to provide feedback for better development of RAFM steels and thermo-mechanical processes. The present research investigated the following
