This study was conducted to predict the response of plant species to climate crisis and establish conservation measures based on the results. In order to predict plant response to climate change, a species distribution model was used to analyze plant species that would become extinct in the future, and a phylogenetic diversity assessment was performed based on the results. In addition, a long-term time-series analysis of the vegetation index of community of Abies koreana was performed using remote sensing data to analyze changes in vitality due to climate change. In vegetation of subalpine and riparian, training data for community classification was established as basic data for future remote sensing data conjugation.
As a result of analyzing the changes in plant species due to future climate change in the study area (5 mountains in Seoul, 3 islands in the South Sea), the number of species predicted to be extinct was relatively higher in Seoul, a high-latitude area, than in the island area in the South Sea. In the case of the study site in Seoul, it was predicted that only 65.2% of plants could sustainably grow by 2100 even in the low-carbon scenario (SSP 1) path, and only 43.5% of plants would survive in the high-carbon scenario (SSP 5) path. However, in the case of islands in the South Sea, it was analyzed that more than 85% of plants would survive even in the SSP 5 pathway. Phylogenetic plant diversity analysis showed a similar pattern in which plant diversity decreased as carbon emissions increased, and showed a relatively large decrease in high-latitude regions.
As a result of analyzing the time-series regular vegetation index change in the Abies koreana community of Mt. Hallasan and Mt. Jirisan over a period of 17 years, the difference in vegetation indices between the area with excellent growth of Abies koreana (Rl) and the area with a high mortality rate of Abies koreana (R2) increased over time. Vegetation indices of the two regions did not show a significant difference in Rl, but gradually decreased in R2 region, increasing the difference. Correlation between the difference in vegetation indices of Rl and R2 and climate factors was analyzed. As a result of correlation analysis in Mt. Halla, a
significant positive correlation was found between surface temperature and vegetation index, but there was no significant relationship in Mt. Jirisan.
Abies koreana and Taxus cuspidata, which grow wild in a large area in the subalpine region of Mt. Hallasan, are known to be vulnerable to climate change. As a way to efficiently monitor and protect them, species-community classification was carried out through object-based classification for images taken with ultra-high-resolution drone, and classification accuracy was verified. As a result, it was possible to classify Abies koreana and Taxus cuspidata as individual species with high accuracy in all sites, if learning data is established through the continuous advancement of object-based classification processing, it can be used in an important way as a protection and monitoring function for legally protected species. If the training data is continuously built, it can be used in an important way as a protection monitoring function for legally protected species through the advancement of object-based classification.
In the Namcheon river and Hyeongsangang river field vegetation survey data and remote sensing data were combined to analyze changes in phenology characteristics, and training data for species-community classification was established. As a result of analysis of changes in phenology characteristics, in the two regions, no clear community was formed before June, before the rainy season began, but the vegetation area gradually increased after June. In addition, as vegetation developed, all five vegetation indices, NDVI, NDRE, GNDVI, LCI, and OSAVI, increased. Since there was a difference in the vegetation index for each dominant community, it is judged that the obtained data can be used as training data for community classification in the future.
