This study is conducted for the purpose of exploring our traditional dancing motions, especially dancing motions of 'Yeonpoongdae'. The court dance chose the twenty kinds of representative dancing motions. For example, 'Geumsu', 'Pyeongjin', 'Leesugojeo', and 'Yeonpoongdae' The folk dance is devided into the farmers dance, mask dance, shamanistic dance, and 'Gibang' dance. The farmers dance has dancing motions of 'Jabanddwigi'(a sort of jumping), 'Daderaegi', striking 'Sogo'(small drum) forward and backward, and 'Yeonpoongdae'. The mask dance has the seven dancing motions. For example, 'Barammaki'(protection from wind), 'Bibimmuguan', whirling, and 'Yeonpoongdae' etc. And the 'Gibang' dance has the dancing motions. For example, 'Meo-risawi'(motions over the head), magpie walk, 'Ssangoeri'(a pair of ducks), and 'Yeonpoongdae'. However, it is remarkable that the name of 'Yeonpoongdae' is generally used among many different dancing motions regardless of dancing forms and kinds. Therefore, 'Yeonpoongdae' is focused in this study. The dancing motions of 'Yeonpoongdae' is very characteristic. That is, the position is changed by turning with whirling. And 'Yeonpoongdae' has changing positions and rhythmical beauty and needs active and special techniques. In a way, in 'Yeonpoongdae' one 'Jangdan'(a sort of rhythum) is devided into four 'bak'(a sort of rhythum). And the form of dance is classified from the first 'bak' to the fourth 'bak' The farmers dance is based on 'Yeonpoongdae' of 'Beokku' dance (dance performed with 'Sogo' and 'Daebuk'(big drum)) dance in the Busan Ami farmers dance. The 'Gibang' dance is based on the Tongyeong sword dance and Honam buddhist dance. In these dances I discovered a few of common points and traits. 1. Common points a. It's performed by turning with whirling. b. It's performed relatively actively and with jumping. c. It's performed at a climax of the dance and heightens emotions. 2. traits The name of 'Yeonpoongdae' is used remarkably when it is performed with instruments in both hands, when it is performed widely, when it is performed with jumping, and when it is tried to have an effect beyond physical limits. Somewhat, the dancing motions of 'Yeonpoongdae' is considered as a good materials in developing stage dancing motions. Because it is character of coinciding the implied character of dancing motions with the modern image that the times needs. Therefore, this study drew the conclusion that in creation of characteristic and traditional dance, the development of the further fundamental dancing motions is the way of expressing ourselves more strongly.
