The aim of this experimental study was to investigate the effects of Pyungweesan samples on the movement of gastrointestinal tract, Liver injury and Body Pressure by using rats or mice. Samples were divided into five groups; Sample-Ⅰ: Pyungwee-san (Atractylodes Rhizoma, Aurantii Nobilis Pericarpium, Magnoliae Cortex and Glycyrrhizae Radix), sample-Ⅱ : Exclusion of Atractylodes Rhizoma from Pyungwee-san, Sample-Ⅲ : Exclusion of Aurantii Nobilis Pericarpium from Pyungwee-san, Sample-Ⅳ: Exclusion of Magnoliae Cortex Rhizoma from Pyungwee-san, Sample-Ⅴ : Exclusion of Glycyrrhizae Radix from Pyungwee-san. The results were as follows; 1. Sample-III, sample-V showed inhibitory effect on Gastric Ulcer and Gastric Secretion on the condition of binded Pylorus in Rat compared with control. 2. All sample showed inhibitory effect on Gastric Ulcer induced by HCl-Ethanol in Rat compared with control. 3. Sample-I, sample-II, sample-III, sample-V showed inhibitory effect on Free Acidity of Gastric Secretion, and only sample-III, sample-V showed inhibitory effect on Total Acdity in Shay Rats compared with control. 4. Only sample-V showed accelerative effect on Barium sulfate transport in the Small Intestine of Mice compared with control. 5. Sample-II, sample-IV showed accelerative effect Barium sulfate transport in the Large Intestine of Mice compared with control. 6. Only sample-V showed inhibitory effect on serum GOT activities and only sample-I, sample-V showed inhibitory effect on serum GPT activities on CCl4 induced experimental Liver Injury in Rat compared with control. 7. Only sample-V showed inhibitory effect on serum GPT activities on CCl4 induced experimental Liver Injury in Rat compared with control. 8. Sample-I, sample-II, sample-IV, sample-V showed significant increasing effect of Body Pressure on the Carotid Arterial in Anesthetized Rats and sample-III(Exclusion of Aurantii Nobilis Pericarpium) has an decreasing effect of Body Pressure, and these effects were dependent on their concentrations.
