The aim of this study is to investigate how much the children, who have grown within the family where domestic violence in couple has occurred, have experienced domestic violence by the parents, to observe how the children have psychologically adjusted themselves to social circumstance, and to find what kinds of intervention methods are effective. For this, this study examined 320 junior hight school students as subjects, using a standardized questionnaire. The result of analysis are as follows: First, domestic violence which parents had done to their children did not make significant difference among violence types, but verbal or physical violence which mothers have done to was more frequent than fathers have. Second, domestic violence in couple made a significant difference among violence types. Third, domestic violence in couple and parents' violence to their children correlated to each other. Fourth, domestic violence in couple had a significant influence on their children's self-esteem, and parents' direct violence to children had more influence on the children's delinquency than children's indirect experience from domestic violence between parents did. Fifth, parents' direct violence to children had more influence on the children's emotion than children's indirect experience from domestic violence between parents did. Based on these results, remedial intervention methods of social work for the children who have experienced domestic violence are as follows: First, social group work could be more effective on children who have directly experienced violence by parents than children who have indirectly experienced domestic violence through conflict between parents. Second, a systematic approach through family therapy could be attempted for the therapeutic intervention in domestic violence because an effective therapy for the family having experienced domestic violence should be made to whole family members including a parent who is beating, another parent who is beaten, and their children. The goal of this kind of therapeutic intervention is to help not only marital conflict settled but also family members communicated openly with each other. Third, the intervention of community organizations with beneficial educational programs could effectively help the children who have indirectly experienced domestic violence through conflict between parents. The effective cooperation between community organizations and schools could correct or prevent psychological and social maladjustment of the children who have indirectly experienced domestic violence. Fourth, one of radical solutions for domestic violence would be social policy formation against it because many aspects of domestic violence have resulted from structural and institutional problems in a society. Consequently, both ex post intervention in the short term and policy formation in the long term would be required as the significant remedies for the children who have directly or indirectly experienced domestic violence. In short, the social work for the children who have directly or indirectly experienced domestic violence should be dealt in both institutional and individual levels.
