This study conducted a theoretical consideration for the first step to investigate an empirical effect as a healing music by observing through listening to actual chakra music to how much extent the chakra music interacts with the body. Music therapy also dates back to long time ago, and its studies are being done actively these days. A lot of papers show that the Western classical music have been mostly used as tools of music healing, and the Western classical music also have good healing effects. However, new trends have been coming out in the study of music therapy. Differently from the general opinion that classical music only has relaxational effects and healing power, the chakra music based on the chakra system is being focused as a new trend of music therapy. Dr. Steven Halpern, who has been involved in this field for over 30 years, conducted studies that compared the relaxational effects of his newly composed chakra music 'Spectrum Suite' to Liszt's Liebestraum #3, the highest-rated classical music estimated by music therapy studies. The results were that his chakra music evoked a deep state of relaxation in over 95% of the research subjects while, by comaprison, Liszt's composition produced a light relaxation in only about 50% of the subjects. In addition, unrelieved stress or uncontrolled emotion affects our health condtions. They causes the chakra system in the body to be dysfunctioal. The malfuction of the chakra system eventually becomes a contributing factor to physical dysfunction of internal organs. On that account, keeping the chakra system balanced helps prevent and cure a wide range of diseases and coditions. Based on this concept, research interests are focused on keeping seven chakras in the body balanced using chakra music. Healing effects of the Western classical music have been generally known by lots of studies. On the other side, since the chakra music is originally stemmed from the Oriental medical concept which treats the body from a point of the holistic approach, it is considered to be more effective from the aspects of prevention and cure a wide range of diseases and conditions. In the context of supporting this concept, this study is purposed to investigate the relationships between the chakra music and the body through the following steps: 1) To provide people under test with an opportunity to listen to the chakra music, 2) To observe listener's response to music, 3) To observe whether the vibration of music is sensed by the body, 4) To observe on which location of the body the vibration is sensed, 5) To observe how the listener's health condition affects response results to the chakra music. People under test were 72 B University students and 20 D post-graduate students in Daejeon, and as a preliminary step prior to main experiments, a question and answer session was conducted regarding general items and response to listening to the chakra music. The experiment tools used in this study are questionaires, part of which were referred form S.H.Yoon's paper(2001) and were devised by author herself, and which consists of items related to health in accordance with each chakra, and which are divided by items related to normal music appreciation and related to response to the chakra music, an experimental music. Using SPSS 11.0 as an analysis tool for experiment results, the reliability analysis for a questionaire scale was done based on Cronbach's Alpha. In a similar manner, the frequency analysis was done for percentage of questionaires regarding the general characteristics and the crossing analysis for the difference among groups in nominal scale based on χ^(2) verification. For proportional scale questionaires, the degree of significance on the level of P?0.05 was done and ANOVA-test was used for the scattering analysis of one dimensional arrangement. Conclusions through this study was inferred as follows. Firstly, preferrence(feeling) of the chakra music resulted in positive reponse, which means that tension can be easily converted into relaxation due to the fact that people listening to the chakra music do not have to be in tension from anticipation response to be unique only in the chakra music Secondly, whether the human body senses the vibration of the chakra music results in positive response that senses the vibration well, and the difference among age groups and gender groups as well has no significant meaning. Taking the general average into consideration, it is shown that among 3 chakra music vibration of music for both heart chakra and brow chakra can be sensed well compared with that of root chakra. Thirdly, using questionaires to ask interrelationship between the vibration of each chakra music and its corresponding response location, that is, how each chakra location respond to its corresponding chakra music, the results didn't show any significant difference. In case of heart chakra, the result was that the vibration was scatteringly sensed on the location of heart chakra, brow chakra, and root chakra. However, comparison and analysis of group difference based on health conditions shows that the healthy group responded more adequately to the corresponding chakra location compared with the weak one. It can be inferred that it comes from the unique characteristics, that is, the state in which the vibration of the body is resonated with that of the chakra music. Fourthly, the relationship between the chakra music and health conditions of people under experiment, that is, on which chakra location the vibration of chakra music is responded, was observed. It showed that, compared with group with the weak spine, breast, lower abdomen, the healthy group responded a little more positively. In addition, the degree of acknowledgement of its response was a little higher for the corresponding chakra location. It means that the sound energy is more smoothly circulated if Qi in the body is smoothly circulated. As circulation of chakra music follows flow of Qi, a problem of any chakra brings about the weakness of its corresponding internal organ. Consequently, it can be easily imagined that imbalance of the chakra system is caused from the weakness of internal organs. Lastly, the difference between meditaion groups and non-meditation groups in terms of preference of the chakra music was insignificant except that meditation groups showed better results for the response itself and response location to three chakra music compared with non-meditation groups. This implies that due to the fact that chakra music is such a natural music circulating along the Qi circuits in the body that water flows, better healing effects can be anticipated if the chakra music is applied to adequate tools for inner healing in a same manner with meditation, breath, Yoga, etc,.
