The purpose of this study is to find out whether accumulated parts of body fat coincide with reduced parts after 12 weeks of training, and during that period how age affects body compositions, by investigating people from the age of 30 to 50 during 12 weeks of aerobic training. The subjects of this study are 45 male residents and 45 female residents in D city, and their ages range from 30 years to 50 years old. To analyze body compositions the Anthropometric Method, Skinfolds Method, and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, (BMI Method) kg/㎡ were used, and the subjects were obese people who used H health center in D city from Oct. 2001 to Jan. 2002. The exercise program consisted of 10 minutes of warming up, 40 minutes of main exercise (aerobic training), and 10 minutes of finishing exercise. Stretching was carried out for the warming up and finishing exercises, and aerobic training equipments such as Treadmill, Cycle-Ergometer, Stepper were used for the main exercise (aerobic training) The exercise intensity was evaluated by the formula of Karvonen〔Target Heart Rate: THR%=(THR%)(HRmax-HRrest)+HRrest〕; the first phase (1st-4th week) was THR 60%, the second phase(5th-8th week) was 70% and the third phase(9th-12th week) was THR 80%. The exercise was done 3-4 times a week for 12 weeks. To analyze how the gender (male and female) and the period of exercise (before the exercise, after 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks) affect body compositions, a two-way factorial ANOVA repeated measurement was carried out. For analyzing how the gender (male and female), the age (30, 40 and 50 year-olds) and the period of exercise (before the exercise, after 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks) change body compositions, a factorial four-way ANOVA repeated measurement was conducted. After analyzing, if there was a statistically significant difference at a level of α=.05, a subordinate T-test (paired T-test) was done. The results of this study are as follows. 1. The weight was reduced at a significant level (p<.05) in the case of 30 and 40 year-olds. In the case of 50 year-olds, there was little reduction in their weight. That is, the older the subject, the more the reduction in their weight decreases. 2. Circumferences of all body parts showed differences after 12 weeks of the exercise training. Circumferences of the hips, the waist and the thighs showed very big differences. In particular, women had a higher rate of differences in circumferences of the hips and the waist. That is, the hips and the waist were more affected than the other parts. 3. When it comes to skinfolds, a statistically significant reduction(p<.001) in seven parts of the body appeared after 12 weeks of the exercise training. In the case of men, the thigh showed the highest rate of difference, followed by superior iliac, triceps brachii, the abdomen and when it comes to women, the abdomen changed at the highest level followed by the thigh, superior iliac, triceps brachii. 4. In the case of the Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, the rate of body fat showed differences at a statistically significant level (p<.001) when the subjects were men in their 30's and 40's, but when they were in their 50's the reduction was dramatically decreased. When it comes to Lean Body Mass, the weight of male subjects reduced by 0.48kg and female subjects showed an increase in their muscles by 0.64kg after 12 weeks of exercise training. Generally most of the age groups showed an increase in Lean Body Mass. In the index of body fat, men showed a decrease of 0.89 and women 1.44. However, there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups. The percentage of WHR decreased by 0.02 in the case of men, and women had 0.05 of decline (p<.001). In this case all age groups showed a statistically significant level (p<.001), but when it comes to male subjects in their 40's, they had a rather lower significant level (p<.05) Generalizing the results, aerobic training had a significant effect on reduction in the weight and body fat of most parts of the body even during the short term. The reason is that the direct combustion of body fat by the exercise uses up kinetic energy and subsequently reduces the weight, body fat and subcutaneous fat, especially in the hips, the waist and the thigh. However, it turned out that the older the subject, the more the body fat reduction of each part of the body decreases. The reason of the result can be regarded as the decline in activities of older people. In addition, the results of this study came after about 8 weeks of exercise. In other words, more than 8 weeks of continuous exercise should be done in order to reduce the body fat in each part of the body.
