The purpose of this study was to review and analyze the status of youth group activities and the perception of teachers, students and parents on the youth group activities to activate group activities. For the purpose of this study, we set the following items as study subjects. 1) What is the perception of advising teachers on youth group operations in elementary schools? 2) What is the perception of students on youth group operations in elementary schools? 3) What is the perception of parents on youth group operations in elementary schools? To achieve the goal of this study, 300 higher grade elementary school students, 200 teachers and 300 parents were selected from the groups that are members of Korea Scout Union, Korea Girl Scout Union, Korea Marine Boys Union, and Korea Youth Union in Seoul. Answers on the collected surveys were analyzed for frequency and percentage and we got the following results with Chi-Square verification. First, perception of teachers on youth group operations in elementary schools 1) Most of advising teachers came to be responsible for the role, because of job allocation. Female teachers and those who have less experience in youth groups responded that the job might be not appropriate for them and there was too much work for them. 2) The biggest problem in youth group operations was lack of professional teachers and special programs appropriate for each specific group. 3) Teachers with many years' experience usually had leadership training. However they criticized that the program was too formal without practical content and the trainers did not have professional knowledge. Second, the perception of students on youth group operations in elementary schools 1) Students joined the youth groups because they wanted to. Boys wanted to do adventurous activities, nurture self-denial spirit and get physical fitness through outdoors activities. Girls considered spending leisure time as well as considering adventures, self-denial and physical fitness. 2) Most of them answered that they would do the youth group activities during elementary school time and they wanted to do group activities using the class for club activities. 3) Most of students did not miss regular meetings and responded that those club activities were very helpful for their school life. 4) They preferred outdoors activities best and they answered that they got benefits from group activities such as brighter characteristics and good utilization of leisure time. Third, the perception of parents on youth group operation in elementary schools 1) The reason why they allowed their children to join the groups was to let them have diversified experiences and they responded that they would let them continue to do group activities if their children wanted to. 2) The parents whose children had fewer experiences answered that they would let them participate in all the activities and the parents whose children had longer experiences answered that they would let them participate in school activities only. 3) Parents wanted their children to do youth group activities on Saturday afternoon or Sunday. They felt that group activities were very helpful to their children's school life. 4) They preferred a camping site for youths rather than a playground or deserted school or private training facilities. Most of them answered that qualified teachers and understanding and cooperation of the school principal would be necessary to activate the youth groups.
