The purpose of this research is to study a new effective mentoring in order to nurture new believers of Korean churches. The method of the research which I used is a survey of the literatures related to mentors or mentoring and a case study on the Onnuri church's mentoring program. I researched Gary W. Kuhne's "Understanding the maturity of the new believer", and Karl Barth, Dietrich Bonhoeffer's "Ecclesiastical view point", and Erik H. Erickson's educational and developmental psychology to understand the importance and meaning of the new believer. I researched former research of Bob Biehl's mentoring and Howard Hendricks' relevant materials in order to understand effective mentoring for maturing new believers. Also I researched the Onnuri church which used mentoring for assimilating down new believers. My research can be summarized as follows: First, I came to know that mentoring is a relational(personality) process. The life of Jesus and His commandment, "Follow me," is the call that we should preach what Jesus taught and do what Jesus said. The ministerial life of Jesus is reincarnational. That means 'being flesh' or 'putting on body'. In other words, the life of Jesus became His message. Jesus lived up to what He said and commanded. This form of mentoring is the way Jesus related to reincarnation. Jesus lived with God in the fullness of spiritual intimacy. This is the great norm that we should follow in order to make disciples for the kingdom of God. Jesus' method still challenges as when we make disciples in the fast programs in these days of our society which is mainly focused on its productive-oriented culture. Secondly, I found that mentoring is not a just steps that leads to the next degrees. Mentors should experience the love of God and show their experiences to the recipient when they perform mentoring. We should regard mentoring as learning as well as realizing the mentor's one who needs to know and feel the love of God as the people of God. For these kinds of experience, through this relationship, we need to have deep relation in which the recipient can know about his or her inborn ministerial life by the deep intimacy of God. Thirdly, I came to know that the relationship of mentoring is interdependent. We can not separate between the mentor and recipient. In the relationship of mentoring, each can be a mentor and recipient. In other words, everybody is a mentor. Until now, many new programs which are for maturing the new believers have belonged to experts. From time to time, this kind of relationship became too bureaucratic. Mentoring is based on everybody's priesthood. Mentoring should be done wherever the learner is located, whether at the table, in the office, laboratory, factory, manufacturing line, bus, car, Sunday school classroom, and in the church. Wise mentoring and those who are willing to receive mentoring are everywhere. Regarding the mentoring, some people insist that everyone can and should be a mentor. Others insist that everybody can mentor, but everybody should not mentor. As the friendship of spiritual mentoring is related to everybody, mentoring is a ministry for the whole Christian community. Many advocates in which encourage the identity as biblical traditions help us understand everybody's priesthood of mentor. For example, the Bible says, "to stir up love and good works" "abide in love" "pray for one another". Therefore the one who has a wise mind, hearing ears, and an open heart to Christ can do this ministry. By the result of research, I would like to suggest the following. First, the church should prepare for the next generation faithfully. We must educate our descendants biblically in order to help them stand firmly in the faith. Through the mentoring, the benefits which will make the next generation successful; First, mentoring can be an emotional encouragement. Second, we can have intellectual advancement. Third, we can get spiritual encouragement. Mentors should know their objective, and situation, in order not fail to suggest the proper place of the Word of God and mature spiritual life for the more successful life. Recipient can have a spiritual power to get over intolerable temptation and live a holy life before God. Thus mentors can make recipients become powerful Christians. Second, the church must focuson its work, which is mainly centered on lay people. Especially, a full-time minister should mentor some mentors who are going to be future leaders or lead them to a suitable mentor by knowing and analyzing their strengths and weaknesses. For this kind of purpose, I suggest the church should do two kinds of mentoring. The first is mentoring for the leaders. This is focused on raising the skills of church leaders as mentors. We need people with judgment and experience. For the above purpose, one field in which can lead and raise leaders is the chief buddy class and the new worker class. The chief buddy class is selected by the minister's recommendation and is open to only those who have finished the basic disciple training class and ministerial class. Those who finished the chief buddy class can be enlisted in the new worker class. These people should set aside time weekly to have time to raise future mentors. Besides, they should teach lay people one-and-one. Second is mentoring for supporters. This kind of group is for those who have talents in educating or are still in need of such talents. They can do their work by being selected by serving under the chief buddy. Barnabas ministry cares for the new believers or does its works by joining the single parent group. They can help mainly in the spiritual, physical, economical, home, problems in the education, and advise the recipient wisely. They can also the help the recipient live in the fullness of spiritual life. If we apply this method, there should be a great revival and development in Korean church. First, ministers should select those who, have potentiality and ability and mentor them as Christian leaders. When we begin to mentor one by one, the mentor will also be a recipient. There should be a bright future in the Korean church with this kind of Bible-based Christian mentoring program.
