The procedure of firing is composed of percussion of fuse, combustion of gun powder, increase of the pressure in barrel, movement of bullet and exit of bullet from barrel. Through these procedures, the rapid changes of temperature and pressure occur inside the barrel and stresses and deformation resulted from these rapid change are the main reasons that reduce the capacity of barrel and life-cycle. This study is the computational analysis of the stresses and deformations of barrel due to the weight of barrel and changes of temperature and pressure in barrel during firing. For the analysis, Le duc''s and Sopok''s experimental correlation are used as the boundary condition of computational calculation. Then, the calculation is validated within 4.8% maximum error through comparison with Timosenko''s analytical solution.Case 1 that considers only the weight of barrel shows the maximum stress of 0.197 MPa with the difference of 251 Pa between maximum and minimum stress and little deformation occurs. Therefore the weight has little effect on barrel deformation.Case 2 considers effect of temperature distribution from the heat conduction calculation and according to pressure distribution. Case2 is subdivided into Case2-A(1st fire), Case2-B(2nd fire) and Case2-C(3rd fire). The maximum stresse for each case is 1.52×108 Pa, 9.87×108 Pa and 1.67×109 Pa respectively and maximum deformation is 1.24 mm, 2.44 mm and 3.04 mm, respectively at 0.58 m, 0.85 m and 0.97 m from the barrel inlet. Results show that the deformations increase by 49.2 % in Case 2-B and by 245.2 % in Case 2-C compared to that of Case 2-A. This indicates that the deformation increases rapidly in the Case2-B and Case2-C due to sustaining high temperature caused by fires. As the stress occurring in Case 2-C exceeds the yield stress of 1.03 GPa, the plastic deformation is expected to occur around the maximum stress position. This could surely cause cause the reduction of barrel''s life cycle.Result of Case 2-A is compared with cases which consider each effect of weight, temperature and pressure, separately. The deformation results for each case which solely considers weight, pressure, temperature are 1.56×10-2 mm, 1.54×10-2 mm, 1.22 mm respectively. Considering the deformation of 1.24 mm for Case2-A, this comparison shows that the temperature mainly causes deformations and stresses.
