Aloka, Medison, ...

Although the number of ultrasonic screening test is explosively growing along with the rapid distribution of ultrasound equipment, the quality control of the ultrasonic devices has been insufficiently done. The management of ultrasonic devices is classified with equipment, image quality, and human resource management, and this study is aimed to identify the current status of equipment of which management was not appropriately made, by using Phantom which is a right management tool for image quality, and to propose projects to work on in the future. The ultrasound equipments subject to this study included devices that are made between 1994 to 2006 by different companies such as Aloka, Medison, GE, and Toshiba, as for Phamton, CIRS’s model 40 for multi-purposes was used. About total 10 right management items including uniformity, near field resolution, depth of penetration, focal point, vertical and horizontal distance, axis and lateral resolution, high and low scatters were measured for three times by each device, and they were assessed for whether they included the standard recommended by AIUM. As for results, there were lots of differences in the final values according to the level of devices regardless of the date of manufacturer, and it needs to have a more detailed study for the devices of specific company while not being subject to other items. Since the ultrasonic test exists for diagnosing a patient in real-time, it is very crucial to perform right management regularly for making an accurate diagnosis by maintaining the stable condition of a device all the time, yet, currently, there are no standards nor regulations on right management. Therefore, it needs to prepare an institutional method in the shortest period possible.
