The environments which affect the corrosion of iron relics are divided into burial environment and atmosphere environment. When iron relics are buried, they are oxidized at first but as time goes by, they reach a stable status and stop oxidization. However, once iron relics are excavated and contact with atmosphere, evaporation of remained moisture in them causes chloride ion(Cl^-) crystallization which subsequently brings crack and exfoliation. Therefore, to prevent deformation and damage, crystallized chloride ion(Cl^-) should be removed before applying de-alkali process. In turn, this study performed comparisons of the 65℃ warm water and Sodium-Sesquicarbonate heating method to examine the relationship between the amount of chloride ion(Cl^-) and each method. The result of Ion Chromatography and ISE/ pH meter analysis shows concentrated chloride ion(Cl^-) elution during the first and second round, however, the elution varies with the density of corroded layer, diffusion factor of the corrosion and the amount of various compounds in the layer. Moreover, it seems that Sodium-Sesquicarbonate heating method makes chloride ion(Cl^-) elute faster, however, considering 9th round, the difference is minuscule and the final amount of eluted chloride ion(Cl^-) is similar. Study on Sodium-Sesquicarbonate heating method proves that Sodium-Sesquicarbonate heating method cause a little corrosion on the surface of relics. It infers that desalting method with 65℃ warm water is safer than Sodium-Sesquicarbonate heating method. Comparing suitable stabilization methods for relics which are excavated from different environments is difficult only with experiment on some of stabilization methods. To solve difficulty, further study is needed about characteristics of burial places related to subterranean water and soil. Study on Complex factors arisen after excavation which affect corrosion of iron relics is also needed.
