We manufactured a stenosis phantom similar as possible human vessel and used an auto injector system to generate 1∼2m/s pulsatile flow in flow phantom. Phantom was used to induce a reproducible flow across 70% stenosis in an 8.0mm, 2.4mm diameter tube. High and low transducers were used to simulate evaluation of pulsatile flow across normal and stenotic vessels in various conditions(Gain, PRF, Filer, Angle). When the high-frequency transducer was used, measurements of the apparent stenotic vessels were generally slightly overestimated. Measurements of the apparent lumen of normal vessels on power Doppler US image were likely to be underestimated, except at high gain level-over 60%. The other factors included pulse repetition frequency, filter, angle. When the low-frequency transducer was used, measurements of the apparent stenotic vessels also were generally slightly overestimated. Measurements of the apparent lumen of stnotic vessels were strongly underestimated and affected by the changes of all the test factors-gain, pulse repetition frequency, filter, angle. For the experiments, we determined the usefulness of stenosis flow phantom at power doppler ultrasonography for the evaluation of stenosis.
