The aim of this study is to research on the actual state of young people's vocational and career education influencing how they make a decision considering their ability and aptitude on selecting their future vocation or choosing their future career in a viewpoint of their system, society and individual. and to analyze their actual states, comparing them with that of our country, South Korea. For the study, we analyzed and compared 10 countries; 7 member nations from the OECD--German, England, France, Italy, the USA, Japan and Australia--and 3 other countries, Russia, China and North Korea. For the effective analysis, first, in a viewpoint of the system, we compared each country's basic national curriculum, the period of vocational and career education, the weight of the programs on vocational education, ways of career education, and the number of the students per teacher, etc. Second, in the viewpoint of society, we compared young people's unemployment rate, average work day, service length, career changes, standard wages, and continuing education, etc. Third, in the viewpoint of the individual, we compared students' satisfaction about teachers, children's schoolwork accomplishments according to parents' social and economic positions, job preference and career selection standards, etc. The following are the compared and analyzed results based on the facts we researched. For the first time, in a viewpoint of system, the educational condition of South Korea is much inferior to other countries, because the average number of the students per teacher in South Korea is 17.8/each teacher, which is much more than that of other countries, 13.6 per teacher, because education facility for the professional counselor and career education is much inferior to those of other countries, and because the average period of career education in South Korea is about 17 years old which is later than that of other countries, 12.7 years old. This means Korean young people don't have relatively enough time to decide their job and career education. For the second time, in a viewpoint of society, young people's unemployment compared with the all unemployment is comparatively higher than that of other countries, but on the other hand, the average percentage of reeducation and continuing education for their seeking employment is 18.8 %, which is less than that of other countries, 26.3 %. Finally, in a viewpoint of individual, Korean young people want to go on much more to academic school than to vocational school. And the most important factor influencing them to decide their career education is not interest and aptitude, but job security. Also, the average expense percentage for private lessons in South Korea are 44.4% which is higher than that of other countries, 8%. In conclusion, our country, South Korea, has to improve the vocational and career education program in the educational circumstance and system. Especially, we have to introduce the early career educational system to give young people the good information they can make efficient use.
