As ceramic fiber is used for an extreme environment, it is being used insulating material and filter in ultra high temperature. Nano technology is required for controling composition and structure of fiber. Recently ceramic fiber is been put to practical use in aerospace industry, sports and environment. This paper researched fabrication and evaluation of super insulation media, sealants for solid oxide fuel cell and carbon-coated adsorbents using ceramic fiber The thermal conductivities of nano-sized fumed silica-based insulation media were investigated using different types of titania opacifier, various mean particle size of the silicon carbide opacifiers and ceramic fiber content. The higher the titania content, the higher the thermal insulation capability of this material at temperature above 400°C due to radiation scattering effect by titania. Titania powder with a higher specific surface area and a mean particlse size of 3.5 µm was found to be most effective to reduce radiative heat transfer. As the fiber contents increased to 30 wt% in a material, its thermal conductivity at temperatures of about 820°C decreased from 0.81 Wm-1K-1 to 0.18 Wm-1K-1. Meanwhile, the thermal conductivity at temperatures of about 820°C decreased from 0.18 Wm-1K-1 to 0.08 Wm-1K-1 as the mean SiC particle size decreased from 31 µm to 3 µm. SiC powder with a mean particles size less than 10 µm was found to be effective to reduce radiative heat transfer. Short ceramic fiber/Al2O3/glass composites were prepared by conventional sintering at 780℃ and by pressureless melt-infiltration at 1150C. Strength of the infiltrated composite samples with porosities of 10∼16% was about four times higher than that of sintered ones with relatively higher porosities. Both the bending strength and fracture toughness had a tendency to decrease with increasing porosity of the infiltrated sample. However, their sealability measured at 650℃ was found to be too poor to use as SOFC seals due to their higher content of alumina particles compared to sintered ones. Porous ceramic fiber composites were coated with pyrolytic carbon by the decomposition of infiltrated phenolic resin in a nitrogen atmosphere at 800°C. The temperature rise of the sample was measured as a function of time during constant voltage application. At the power of 7.81 W (9 V, 0.87 A), the surface temperature of a sample containing ∼27 wt% carbon rised to about 148°C in 5 minutes. The efficiency of the conversion from electrical energy to thermal energy was calculated and compared with that of other carbon heaters. In situ thermal desorption of adsorbates from the sample were obtained from the weight change of the sample during Joule heating. At longer heating time, i.e., from 3 to 5 minutes, under the constant applied voltage of 9 V, the weight loss was increased from 14.5 mg to 21.8 mg due to more moisture desorption
