The Purpose of the sermon is to change the lives of the audience by the proclamation of the text. A sermon would not be considered as a good one if there were a proclamation without the change of the lives of the audience, and vice versa. Therefore, the sermon should start from where the audience respond to it and it should lead them to the place of the text. Also, the sermon is the work of establishing God's community. The community to be set up, however, is changing according to the way of communication, the belief of the absoluteness of the text, and the recognition about the preacher. Such a change has not only had a direct impact on the sermon today but has continually demanded a change in a sermon. Therefore, the preacher should accept the change of the community as the change of the sermon to apply God's will in the text to the changing community. Consequently, the preacher gets to think deeply about how to connect the unchanging text with the changing context of the sermon. In the contents of the sermon, if a preacher wants to connect the text with the context, what can he change? or what can't he change? It is said that the body of the sermon to proclaim the contents of the text cannot be changed, nor can the conclusion of the sermon to urge the audience to change through the text. No matter what changes of the times there are, the criteria for the text must not be removed. The audience should experience the changes through the sermon, which lead them to the world of the text. Accordingly, it is the introduction of the sermon that accepts the changes most sensitively, and that should show the incarnational changes as a place to sympathize with the audience. Therefore, the preacher should think deeply about how to make the audience listen to the text in a fresh way. The audience can meet the text in a new way, depending on how to make up the introduction and connect it with the body. That is because the way to freshly open the relationship between the body of the text and the audience is the introduction of the sermon. When a preacher is not in harmony with the audience or does not sympathize with them in the introduction of the sermon, he is likely to be disregarded by the audience even if he annotates the text excellently. So, the importance of the introduction of the sermon has become more important day by day in the midst between the circumstances of the changing ministry and the varieties of the context. Therefore, the purpose of this study is that the audience today has a new contact with the text by connecting the text with the context. For that purpose, the author of this paper has intended to connect the text and the context with tensions and expectations by analyzing the context of the sermon and suggesting alternative introductions of the sermon. The existing introductions of the sermons can be divided into two parts; "traditional introduction" centering on the text, "new introduction" centering on the context. Comparing these two flows, the author of this paper intends to make a foundation of the introduction of the sermon. The "traditional introduction" cannot help facing the text without preparation since it does not have enough room to sympathize with the audience because of its too fast speed to go into the text. The audience today have difficult in sympathizing with the text, and feel a sense of distance due to the matters of time and culture. The "new introduction" has the advantage of sympathizing with the audience because it starts from the their circumstances. The voice of the text, however, becomes weak because the voice of the audience goes into the body of the sermon, passing over the introduction. Therefore, the "new introduction" may leave unsatisfied feeling when it comes to meeting the ultimate needs of the audience and, as a result, the limitations between the two introductions have demanded new alternatives. Consequently, the author of this paper intends to suggest some introductions to connect the text with the context as alternatives. The audience today have a tendency not to be used to the text, irregardless of whether they have a Christian background or not. They also tend not to show any interest in its repeated stories. Since they are affected by the postmodernism, there could be a sense of rejection caused by the way of communication, when the text is proclaimed centering on the absoluteness of the Bible. Therefore, cultural and experiential sympathy should be established so that the audience may expect a new contact with the text in the introduction of the sermon. The introduction, however, is not the sympathy to just stay in it together with the audience, but the one to listen to the text and experience it. Therefore, the introduction should be clear about more how the sympathy ought to be connected with the text than the contents of the sympathy. This paper suggests three alternatives about the introduction of the sermon so that it may start from the sympathy of the context but have a deep relationship with the text. First, it is the introduction with application. The preacher delivers his sermons for the application. Application is not only the power to give rise to the change on the part of the audience but the final direction for that change. While the application of the conclusion is the one which proceeds to the place of the change along the text, the application of the introduction should be the one as a kind of mirror that makes people find what they are today through it. Therefore, the application should start from the introduction, go through the annotation, and extend straight to the changes of the audience. Jesus Christ helps the audience see themselves through many parables. The change and the application already start when they diagnose themselves exactly. They get to wait for the sound of the change when they diagnose themselves from the perspective of today in the application part of the introduction of the sermon. That i
