The motivation of this study is to find out the ways to establish high school students' self-identity and to develop rightly their mental growth. The methodology for this study is that high school students will be given chances to read various literary works. In so doing, they will open their minds to their own egos and get their new world-views. This literary classwork for high school students' self-identity is focused to understand their egos on the basis of the principles of the literary therapy. With this literary classwork, they will get three kinds of effects. Firstly, they will be able to understand and appreciate literary works. Secondly, on the basis of the understanding and the appreciation, they will be able to retrospect their lives, to understand their egos, and to dialogue their egos. Finally, in so doing, they will be able to establish their own self-identities. For the model of a classwork, I set up several necessary subjects for the establishment of high school students' self-identity, such as 'I', 'my life, 'my family', 'my friend', and 'my study'. I will apply these subjects to my literary classwork, and extend each subject as follows: 'telling myself', 'telling my life', 'telling my family', 'telling my friend', and 'telling my study'. According to these subjects, I also classify literary works I used. The literary works used in this study are come from the lists of the seventh education course. On the basis of educational elements and principles in the literary therapy, I set up my classwork strategy for planning a model of my classwork for the establishment of high school students' self-identity. I also suggest a model of a classwork which will be able to be applied to a real literary classwork by reading three special texts, 'Self-Portrait' written by Jung-Joo Seo, 'The letter sent in a Place of Exile' written by Yak-Young Jung, and 'A Story of Yae-Duck Teacher' written by Ji-Won Park. One of the main methodology for this study is to read literary works in my literary classwork. I think that this study based on the methodology mentioned above may give an important contribution for the establishment of high school students' self-identity by reading literary works. Most high school students who are mainly reading school texts have not have enough time to read literary works. In this current situation, classwork planned to read literary works may produce many extra useful benefits for high school students. I hope that this study may be a meaningful trial for a bright future of the establishment of high school students' self-identity. I expect that high school teachers will apply the principles of this study to their teaching method, and bear many good results for their students.
