Among the science curriculum of sixth-grade Korean elementary school, descriptions on origin science were analyzed for their underlying worldview background by examining some contents of selected science textbooks and teacher's guidebooks. In addition, the alternative descriptions based on a Christian perspective focusing on the evolutionism-creationism controversy were also suggested. For evaluation of the alternative contents, special lectures on origin science with the suggested evolutionism-creationism two-models descriptions were practically given in 6th-grade classes. Following the classes, changes in student's view on issues of origin science before and after the class have been investigated. The subjects of study included 100 students in three 6th-grade classes of an elementary school in Incheon, Korea. The content of elementary science curriculum is currently composed of evolutionary phylogenetic relationships, the formation of stratum and fossil based on uniformitarianism, and evolutionary development of all organisms. Before the experimental class, more than 60% of the students displayed evolutionary perspective on the education content except for mutation and genetic engineering. Especially, the evolution of trilobite(72%), uniformitarianism, and fossil(80%) were largely dealt with as the evidence of evolution. The comparison of responses of Christian students(38%) and non-Christian students showed that the elementary school students could have evolutionary perspective regardless of their religion. When a survey asking 15 issues was performed after the class in which evidences for both of creationism and evolution were presented the result showed that the portion of creationism perspective increased for most issues. Especially, students showed an increase of 20% for fossil and evolution of trilobite and 22% for stratum. This confirmed that the two-models presentation for evolutionism and creationism might has a critical effect on the changes in the students' view on origin science. The analysis of two-models presentation class also showed that the class could stimulate students understanding evolutionism and creationism and change their view on the origin of the world. In conclusion, the parallel implementation of two models, evolutionism and creationism, should be contained in the curriculum together to help students to develop scientific thinking and exploring ability. In addition to this study, more research should be carried out on the validity and possibility of the class that deals with both evolutionism and creationism simultaneously.
