The purpose of this study is to recognize types of married couples' attachment who have the children between 3 and 5 and to remind parents of the importance of the relationship between spouses and parent roles to effect on children's self-control and the difference in separation anxiety. This study consisted of three arguments: one is whether there are any differences in mothers' spouse attachment types, children's self control and separation anxiety, another is how mothers' spouse attachment types, children's self control and separation anxiety are related to each other, the other is whether there are any differences in children's self control and separation anxiety due to mothers' spouse attachment types. The subjects were 290 mothers of children aged 3, 4 and 5 drawn from the kindergartens in Cheongju city. The instrument was used to be invented by Brennan, Clark and Shavber(1998) called Multi-item Measure of Adult Romantic Attachment and to be translated by Jinkyung Gang(2001) for mothers' spouse attachment. Children's self-control was measured by Self-control of children stardard invented by Jungran Lee(2003). Children's separation anxiety also was measured by the teacher standard for rating invented by Sunjo Ahn(2002). Data were analyzed using SPSS 12.0 program for frequencies, percentages, t-test, F-test, LSD post-hoc test, Item analysis, Reliability analysis, Pearson's correlation coefficient and K-means clustering. The results of research are as follows. First, mothers' spouse attachment types depend on children's birth order and mother age. The mother who has the only child is higher than mothers have the two more children at the rate of anxiety. Mothers also, who are under 35 years old, are more anxious. Avoidance attachment type is appeared more frequently if family income is lower. Second, children's self-control depends on family monthly income. Children, who belong to the family have over 4,000,000 won in monthly income, are higher self-control than children under 4,000,000 won. Third, children's separation anxiety differs statistically from these items such as genders and birth order. Girls have experienced more separation anxiety than boys. The first child has experienced more separation anxiety than any other birth orders. Forth, mothers' spouse attachment types, children's self control and separation anxiety are correlated partially. Mother's anxiety attachment and avoidance attachment are related to children's separation anxiety positively, but related to self-control negatively. That is, the higher mother's anxiety attachment avoidance is, more separation anxiety children have experienced and higher self-control. Fifth, children's self-control differs from mother's spouse attachment types. The safety type of mother's spouse attachment is higher than the case of anxiety or avoidance in children's self-control. Finally, children's separation anxiety differs from the types of mother's spouse attachment. That is, the anxiety type in mother's spouse attachment is higher in children's separation anxiety than the safety and avoidance types. However, the safety type of mother's spouse attachment is lower than the types of anxiety and avoidance in children's separation anxiety.
