This study aims to explore ways investigate the elementary school student's dietary life according to a double-income family structure. Surveys were given 871 students who served elementary school student's fifth and six grade, and of the collected questionnaires, 710 response that sincerely answered were analyzed using SPSS program for window version 12.0. The results of this study summarized as follows; In terms of the occupational patterns of the subjects' parents, the number of double-income families was greater, with children from single-income families representing 38.3% of the survey group and children from double-income families representing 61.7%. In terms of living situation of the subjects, the number of nuclear families was greater, with extended families at 38.3% and nuclear families at 61.7%. Double-income families had a greater tendency toward a nuclear family living situation than single-income families did (p<.01). With regard to the question of skipping supper due to an overlap with the subject's lessons at a education institute, this occurred more frequently in double-income families than in single-income families (p<.01). With regard to the supper time of child respondents, 32.9% of those in double-income families and 20.2% of those in single-income reported it as after 8:00(p<,01). Furthermore, it was generally observed that the later the time that the mother of the child surveyed left work, the later the time of supper was (p<.05). Who in their family was responsible for preparing supper, 95.2% of children in sing-income families and 73.3% of children in double-income families answered "'parents", while 2.9% of children in single-income families and 19.9% of children in double-income families answered "siblings/the respondent" (p<.001). In terms of the use of allowance, 29.4% of children in single-income families and 41.3% of children in double-income families used allowance money to buy snacks, which shows that more children in double-income families use money for snacks. With regard to frequently selected foods, both single-income and double-income families preferred Korean meat dishes and Korean food, followed by Western, Chinese, and Japanese foods. In the evaluation of eating habits, the scores of the child respondents from double-income families was lower than that of the respondents from single-income families (p<.05). These outcomes suggest that proper nutrition education programs are necessary for children, so that children, and children in double-income families in particular, can establish sound eating habits and eat snacks that are appropriate for their nutritional needs. In addition, since children in elementary school are greatly affected by their parents throughout their dietary life, it is necessary to develop and implement appropriate nutrition education programs for parents. It is considered that such nutrition education programs should be designed so as to provide parents with the knowledge that they require to choose snack menus that are appropriate for their children, and to adequately explain why children need to eat alone less frequently.
